Robert Joyce Tasker was an American writer. While serving a five-year sentence for robbery in San Quentin Prison, Tasker wrote an autobiographical account about his prison life, Grimhaven, published by Knopf in 1928.

The success of his book permited him to became a Hollywood screenwriter after his release. In 1942, he relocated to Mexico City to work for various film producers. He died on December 7, 1944, for a probably intentional overdose of sleeping pills.
