Paperback
Widow Sarah Johnson struggled to pick up the pieces after her life was ripped apart. After two years of grieving, she's found contentment in her thriving business as photographer to Hollywood's A-list and in raising her angel-faced daughter, Kylee... until bodyguard and long-time friend Ethan Cooke changes everything with a searing moonlight kiss.
Sarah's world turns upside down as she struggles with her unexpected attraction to Ethan and the guilt of betraying her husband's memory. But when blue roses and disturbing notes start appearing on her doorstep, she has no choice but to lean on Ethan as he fights to save her from a stalker that won't stop until he has what he prizes most
Excerpt:
Alone and mildly terrified, Ethan stared down at the pretty little bundle snuggled against him. Her serene face, a miniature of Sarah’s, was so perfect. She smelled of baby powder and weighed next to nothing. Even though she slept, he began to wiggle his arm—just in case. “I guess this isn’t so bad. Let’s make a deal. If you keep doing what you’re doing until your mom comes back, I’ll talk her and your dad into a really kickass swing set for the backyard. It’ll be my present to you.”
Kylee’s lips made a sucking motion as she continued sleeping.
“Okay, I guess that means we have a deal.”
Relaxing with more confidence, he turned back to the counter, attempting to make his sandwich one-handed. He finagled the twist tie from the plastic as Kylee curled closer against him. Startled by her sudden movement, he dropped the bread and bent at the knees to pick up the loaf as Kylee grunted. Seconds later, a small, wet explosion sounded in her diaper. “That can’t be good.” He stood and walked to the bathroom, desperately hoping Sarah was finished, but the radio played beyond the closed door as water sprayed into the bathtub.
The baby began to stir and he jiggled his arm from side to side, but Kylee’s fussing turned into a lusty cry. Panicked, he almost forgot the rules of friendship and rushed into the bathroom. With his hand on the doorknob, he stopped himself. “Christ, pull it together, Cooke. You’ve got this.”

My Hometown
I know it’s been a while since I posted anything to this blog. I have no excuses except to say I’ve been furiously working on two projects. The first is a small collection of short stories, Murder by Bear and Other Short Stories. This will be a free eBook, which I hope it will be ready within the next few months.

The first is a small collection of short stories, Murder by Bear and Other Short Stories. This will be a free eBook, which I hope it will be ready within the next few months. My other work-in-progress is a novel entitled Sun Seeker. This is a contemporary romantic suspense set in present day Montana. Sun Seeker placed first in the romantic suspense category in the Pages from the Heart Contest. Unfortunately, as is the way with some creative projects it needs editing, polishing, and then more editing to make it fit for human consumption.
I did take my nose away from the grindstone long enough to visit my Mum (That’s how the English spell it.) in England. I grew up in the small town of Ashford, Middlesex near Heathrow Airport. Actually as a young woman I worked as a check-in agent for British Airways. South of the town you will find the Queen Mary Reservoir. At over 700 acres it is one of the largest suppliers of fresh water for London and the surrounding areas. It is also home to the Queen Mary Sailing Club. An institution that was never open to me – a woman born to working class Irish parents.
Anyway, I thought it might be fun to share some photos of my hometown with you.
Anyway, I thought it might be fun to share some photos of my hometown with you.You will notice that Ashford isn’t one of those historic picturesque towns you see in the movies. Like many towns in Europe it’s a combination of historical, and industrial. Although recent attempts have been made to preserve its history it has ultimately succumbed to the relentless urban sprawl, which is a symptom of its proximity to London.

There has been a settlement in this location for over a thousand years and Ashford is mentioned in the doomsday book of 1066 AD under the name Echelford. There are still buildings and a school that pay homage to that ancient name. Here’s the link to the online Doomsday Book: http://opendomesday.org/place/TQ0771/ashford/

This is St. Michael's Catholic church. It stands a few blocks away from St. Matthew’s. As a strict Catholic my mother forced us to go to mass every Sunday until I turned eighteen. Needless to say I spent a lot of time daydreaming in this building.

Ashford Antiques is situated in what used to be a pub, The Royal Hart. Built in the 19th century it is now a listed building. When I lived there The Royal Hart was a pretty rough establishment and was not my regular drinking hole. So now you’ve seen my hometown, the place where I grew up. What’s your hometown like? Is it picturesque, or rough and tumble? Do you have good memories or bad? I’d love to hear about

The Fort McMurray Fire
I haven’t written a post for a while. I was planning to share photos from my latest trip to England and share an update on my work in progress, but all that has gone by the wayside in the wake of the Fort McMurray Fire. The wildfire that firefighters are now calling the Beast is, as of today, 2000 square kilometers – that’s 772 square miles.
To put that in perspective New York’s five boroughs covers approximately 304 square miles, and Greater London extends to 607 square miles. (The New York Times, Encyclopædia Britannica and Wikipedia provided those measurements.)
To give you an idea of how hard it is for first responders. Fort McMurray is an isolated city carved out of the northern forest. There is one highway, highway 63, which links it to the rest of the world. Beyond that it is surrounded by wilderness, which is fuel for the Beast.

I am not a resident of Fort McMurray. I live near Edmonton, Alberta and although me, and my family are not in any danger, over 80,000 people have been evacuated from the city. Photos from the fire-ravaged city show a devastation that is hard to comprehend outside a war zone.

For most of the week my hubby was on the other side of that fire. He works in one of the mines north of the city. And although he was not in any immediate danger from the fire, with the highway closed he was cut off from the rest of civilization and all that goes with it – food, and clean water being at the top of the list.

Convergence by Michelle Grey
Michelle Grey - Certified Storm Spotter  My name is Michelle Grey and my most recent novel, Convergence, highlights a storm chasing heroine and an FBI agent hero who’s trying to track down the person trying to kill her.
Convergence is my third romantic suspense novel in the Long Shot Series, and I’m so thankful for the opportunities I’ve had to interact with amazing professionals as I’ve researched these novels.
I love authenticity in fiction. It adds an element of depth that I love to read, and strive to provide to readers. In previous novels, I’ve interviewed policemen, FBI agents, paramedics, adoption specialists and audiologists to get elements into my stories that allow people in those professions to still lose themselves in the story. And that’s ultimately my goal; that the story flows so smoothly that nothing yanks the reader out with a “well, that would never happen” moment.
With Convergence, the authenticity came easily. I’ve lived in the Midwestern United States almost my entire life, so respect for super storms and tornadoes comes very naturally for me. I’m a certified storm spotter (don’t be impressed – I went to a seminar and they took my number so they can contact me after a storm happens to get feedback on what I experienced).
Despite my minimal training, there’s nothing more compelling to me than being in the middle of a storm capable of producing tornadoes, and that ominous radio warning from the emergency alert system gets my blood pumping every time.
The genesis for Tori’s character came from watching an incredible storm chaser named Reed Timmer, first on Discovery Channel then on TVN. He seemed fearless and willing to risk everything to find the perfect storm, and while I’m sure his motivation to chase storms was different than Tori’s, I really wanted to incorporate that intensity into Tori’s character.
I sincerely hope you enjoy Convergence and get caught up in the thrill of the chase. Tori is chasing her past and tornadoes, and the killer is chasing her.
Happy Reading!

Amazon Nothing comes between Tori Whitlock and her tornado chase season -- not a serial killer, not even the hot FBI agent who’s vowed to save her life. But Detective Jack Mathis plays tough. Ending this case isn’t just his job, it’s his mission. And he finally has the advantage.

He faces Tori’s hostility and objections head-on, interjecting himself into every aspect of her life, and leaving him no time to dwell on his own.

Through the twists and turns of the madman’s game, Tori is forced to adapt to her unwelcome circumstances. Still, she fights Jack's presence, and her attraction to him, as he tries to open doors better left closed.

For Tori and Jack, life and death decisions are part of their jobs. But, can they overcome their pasts and realize that there’s a difference between life and living?

This meeting isn’t about Glenn and his new show.”

Tori checked Cam and Dwayne to see if they were as confused as she was, but neither one was looking at her. She sat back and cocked her head. “Then what?”

Alan tugged at his shirt collar. “The emails. Cam gave them to me. And I gave them to the FBI.”

Her head swiveled to Cam, her voice low and menacing. “You rat bastard. I want my key back. You had no right.”

Cam’s steady eyes assessed her. “Would you have turned in the emails?”

Tori rolled her eyes. “Of course not. I –”

“Exactly. I had no choice but to be the responsible one.”

“Responsible my –”

Alan raised his voice, interrupting their spat. “Either way, the FBI thinks the emails are credible enough that they’re sending their lead agent on the case down here to become your best friend for a little while.”

Fingers dug into the chair’s padded fake leather arms as she shot a pointed look at Cam. “I don’t need another ‘friend.’ I’ve got enough of them already. What’s he going to do, live with me?”

“Probably. And chase with you, too.”

Tori’s chair exploded against the conference room wall as she flew out of it and planted her palms on the table. “Oh, hell no.”

Heaven Must Wait, Part II By Brenda B. Taylor
The Wade Family Saga Listen carefully. Do you hear the sounds of a large family going about their daily tasks on a small eastern Missouri farm after the Civil War? They have no radio, television, or internet, yet they engage in happy conversation, laughing, calling to one another, and sometimes raising their voices in contention. This is Leann Frances Clark’s family. Leann is a young lady at the beginning of the Wades of Crawford County series which consists of three books and another,
  Heaven Must Wait, Part II
, now on pre-order and coming online May 3.
Leann desires to become engaged to Ralph Wade who lives on a farm ten miles away. Her father, John Clark, objects saying she’s too young, and Ralph cannot make a good living on his farm. Missouri is devastated after the war. Some of the bloodiest battles of the struggle were fought there. Earning a living on the land is difficult with much of the livestock stolen, food crops destroyed, and homes burned or destroyed. Outlaws roam the countryside reeking havoc.
Ralph begins farming on acreage cut from his father’s holdings after the conflict, but has a difficult time making a living. However, he loves Leann and is determined to make her his wife. He will wait as long as John Clark insists. Leann wants to abide by her father’s wishes, but loves Ralph and determines to marry him with or without John’s approval.
After retirement, I became interested in family genealogy and began researching my father’s line. I found the connection to John Sevier, my fourth great-grandfather and first governor of Tennessee. John Sevier, one of the original settlers in Tennessee, is also a Revolutionary War hero who fought in the Battle of Kings’ Mountain. His grandson immigrated to Missouri during the early 1800’s, settling in the Cuba, Missouri area. The immigrant’s son, my great-grandfather and Civil War veteran, is portrayed in the character of Ralph Wade, hero of the Wade family saga. However, another side of the veteran’s personality after the war—one of emotional conflict—is captured in Sonny Wade, Ralph’s brother. Both brothers are in love with Leann. Conflict between her love for Ralph and desire for Sonny arises throughout the series.
Heaven Must Wait, Part II is a novella and extension of Heaven Must Wait , the first book in the series. The two books introduce the characters and setting of the Wade family saga. Another novel and last of the Leann stories, is planned for the near future.

Times are difficult in Missouri after the Civil War. Families struggle to keep their property from creditors and outlaws. The desire of Ralph Wade’s heart is to marry the girl of his dreams, beautiful Leann Clark, but many obstacles stand in their way. Ralph finds love is not enough to persuade Leann’s father to give his permission for their marriage. John Clark wishes more than love for his daughter. He wants her husband to provided a good living with a secure future. Ralph is much too hot-tempered and unreliable in John’s eyes. Leann desires the dashing Ralph and defies her father to be with him. She believes her love is strong enough to see them through the hard times. Through adverse circumstances, the young couple struggle to keep the fires of their love and faith burning.

Excerpt:
Leann felt she couldn't be happier. Her parents seemed to have forgiven Ralph for the altercation he had with Wesley Snipes over a saloon girl and were making friendly overtures toward him. She knew Pa expected both she and Ralph to act responsibly, and she determined not to break his trust. Her heart sang as they walked to the oak tree where Maude waited patiently.
Ralph put his hat on, then untied his mare. “I love you, Leann. I'll see you next week.”
“I love you. I can hardly wait 'til next Tuesday.” She looked toward the house, then stood on her tiptoes and lightly kissed his lips.”
He quickly glanced toward the house, bent down and planted a firmer kiss on her mouth, then mounted Maude. Without saying anything more, he turned his horse toward home. She stood watching until he rode out of sight. With a heart bursting of love for Ralph, Leann made her way back to the house.

He quickly glanced toward the house, bent down and planted a firmer kiss on her mouth, then mounted Maude. Without saying anything more, he turned his horse toward home. She stood watching until he rode out of sight. With a heart bursting of love for Ralph, Leann made her way back to the house.

Sealed With A Kiss by Susan Lute

Kobo When friends become lovers, is there a chance friendship can turn into something more?
Cyber security consultant, Sloane Cooper is dumped by her wanna-be politician boyfriend, his parting shot—not only are you the worst girlfriend ever, but you're a lousy kisser, too! So she turns to game developer Miles Preston for “kissing lessons”. But Miles doesn't want to be Sloane's rebound guy. How does he convince his best friend steamy kisses are not enough? Traditional wooing won't work. Can a few well chosen gaming obstacles do the trick instead?
Excerpt:
“You're not wearing the dress I bought you.”
The up and coming political star with aspirations for the U. S. Senate, was irritated.
Sloane wasn't surprised. She glanced down at the black leggings, emerald-green flowing top inset with slashes of lace, and her favorite Converse tennis shoes before opening the door wide as an invitation to enter.
She grabbed her cell from the side table where she'd left it. Five o'clock? Crap!
Scrambling to find an excuse that wouldn't irritate him further, the only thing she could conjure up was the truth. “I'm sorry. Picked up this sweet gig today. Identifying spyware. Worms. Intruders. The whole nine yards. I lost track of time.”
She backed toward her bedroom and the dress that so wasn't her style.
Her consulting business, Cooper Cyber Securities, was her life. Well, with the exception of Todd, the guy she'd been dating for two years. And she loved it. The challenge. Excitement of the chase. Sussing out code gone wrong. Locking out hackers.
When her apology had no affect—Todd's brows pulled into an intimidating
canyon—Sloane stopped retreating. Hands plunked on hips, she took a stand. She didn't need anyone telling her what to wear. Except just this once she should probably make an exception. If she was interested in talking him out of his foul mood.
She wasn't given a chance.
“My god, Sloane! When are you going to grow up and start living in the real world?”
Real world? What was that supposed to mean? She had a real-world job. She swallowed sudden anger before she said something that wouldn't help the situation. “I said I was sorry. It won't take long to get ready. Ten minutes. Fifteen tops.”
Before she could spin around to perform this miracle—really she'd need at the very least thirty minutes—Todd's next words stopped her cold.
“This isn't going to work for me.”

1893 . . . Jennifer Crawford, the peacekeeper in a well-to-do Boston family rife with anger, deceit, and even treachery, was born to solve mathematical mysteries at a time when women are only beginning to venture from home and into the world of commerce and politics. Beautiful and shy, she struggles to find the courage to face a scheming mother and guide a father denying their familial dysfunction, hesitant to traverse the volatile economics banks are facing at the turn of the twentieth century. But danger threatens when she discovers the crimes of an abusive man determined to make Jennifer his own.
Zebidiah Moran, chief of staff for a new senator in Washington, is determined to uncover the lovely Jennifer’s secrets and guard her from danger. But will his sacrifices be enough to keep her safe?
Excerpt:
The carriage rolled to a stop at a discreet side door on the massive stone building that was the Crawford Bank, and her father stepped out. “Take Miss Crawford to the lobby.”
Jennifer pulled her gloves tight as they rounded the corner and then accepted the doorman’s help down the two carriage steps. She drew herself up as she’d seen Jolene and her mother do on so many occasions, straightening her back, and slowly turning her head from side to side. Gentlemen stopped on either side of the dark carpet that went the entire way to the bank’s marble foundation.
The doorman nodded and opened the door for her to enter. “Good morning, Miss Crawford.”
Snow had begun to swirl around her, sprinkling white on her dark blue walking coat and velvet hat, the pheasant feather dipping with each step. The men who had stopped to let her pass were tipping their hats or removing them.
“Good morning, McAtee! It is a lovely morning, even with this wretched snow.”
“Let me hold my umbrella over you so you don’t get wet,” a young man shouted, and received laughter in reply from the men around him.
“Thank you, but I’m almost inside,” she said, and tossed her dark blond curls over her shoulder as she smiled brightly at the man holding his umbrella out to her like an offering.
Jennifer entered the bank with a nod to the doorman.
“She smiled at you, boyo,” another man said to the man holding the umbrella. “Lucky dog, you.”
“She did,” he replied, still staring at the now closed bank door. “She did.”
“I time my mornings to be just here when she arrives,” the man said. “’Twas a dreadful stretch when she was away. I thought I’d right died when she come back.”

The Reluctant Lover by Justine Lewis

Available on AmazonKatherine Bright is one of Australia’s most acclaimed television journalists, but rumor has it her show is about to be axed. Katherine has given up everything for her career—her marriage and the chance of having children— she isn’t about to give up on her show.
Enter Liam Kennedy, a foreign correspondent back in Australia for an awards night. Liam is the whole cliché – tall, dark and totally kissable. Except for one thing. He’s younger than Katherine. Much younger. And when Katherine realizes she needs Liam to save her show she finds herself in an impossible situation.
EXCERPT:
His arm was still around her shoulder as he led her to the back door of the ballroom. She didn’t feel threatened exactly, but she felt supported by his touch. She let herself be led – and protected, in a way she hadn’t been in a long, long time.
‘Where are we going?’
‘Getting out of here.’
‘Do you have a car?’
‘Not exactly,’ he said, taking her out through the fire doors and into a corridor leading to a small flight of stairs which he started to ascend.
‘Then what?’ Katherine stopped just outside the doors and refused to walk up the stairs. Liam strode back down the steps and grabbed her hand. He tugged. His hand was large and warm and though her first thought was to shake it away and stand her ground, she didn’t. It felt . . . nice. She liked the way his hand wrapped around hers, she liked the warm feelings she suddenly had in her stomach. But it was a silly thought; she needed to get home. Katherine followed Liam up the stairs and into a small private foyer. She wasn’t sure where they were exactly but figured it was somewhere on the first floor of the hotel. He pressed a button to call a lift.
‘I don’t understand. Can you help me get a cab?’
‘Probably not. That’s why you’re coming with me.’
‘Where to?’
‘My room.’

He sees a spinsterish misfit.
If the Guinness Book of World Records had a category for the world’s most boring life, Millie Stephens knows she would hold the record. She sees a stereotypical thug.

Beneath that sexy, tattooed exterior is a man with a painful past who’s desperate to both hide and overcome his disability in the pursuit of his dreams. But his decision to bid on a large construction project could both lead to his downfall and reveal his secret.
Will Millie and Ian look beneath the surface and see there’s more to each other than meets the eye?
Excerpt
If the Guinness Book of World Records had a category for the world’s most boring life, Millie Stephens knew she would hold the record.
Bundled up in her brown wool coat against the chill of a New York fall, she hurried down the Brooklyn sidewalk to the pharmacy to pick up a prescription for her boss.
As personal assistant for best-selling romance author, Darcy Butler-Ryan, Millie kept her calendar, edited her manuscripts, handled her social media, and through her agent, Gloria Madison, scheduled her public appearances, among other duties. Since Darcy had become pregnant, Millie had also taken it upon herself to run errands and generally oversee Darcy’s health and well-being.
Thus, the trip to the pharmacy for Darcy’s anti-nausea medication.
She consulted the day’s to-do list to see what other errands were on it. Lists were her life. They provided organization, structure, and a sense of accomplishment. She loved ticking things off her list so much that if she accomplished something that wasn’t on the list, she’d write it down just so she could have the pleasure of marking it off.
She had a list for everything. Errands. Tasks. Books to be read. Special dates to remember. If something needed doing, she had a list for it, all appropriately categorized, of course. Shoving her errand list into her coat pocket, she stopped at the corner and waited for the pedestrian signal. As soon as the light changed, she stepped out into the pedestrian crosswalk, anxious to get to the pharmacy and out of the cold. She glanced to her left and froze, as a delivery truck barreled down the street as if the red light meant nothing. And as if she truly were invisible.
Fear stole her ability to move and she scrunched her eyes closed hoping death would at least be quick. She strived for invisibility, but now she’d give anything to stand out.
Next thing she knew she was yanked from behind and hauled up against a hard object, bands of steel around her waist, her feet dangling in the air.
