Quiet Lately
The Seventh Sentinel

Quiet Lately
I know I’ve been very quiet on my blog – too quiet in fact, but that’s because I’m busy working hard on the sequel to The Seventh Sentinel, and I’ve also been travelling quite a bit. And now with Christmas approaching, which I love by the way, things are quite hectic. So I thought I had better drop by and post a quick note to let you know that I’m still alive and kicking. From January I’ve made a deal with myself to post once a month on any topic that takes my fancy. Be it about books, book reviews, cooking, scrapbooking and animals, you’ll be hearing more from me.
The Seventh Sentinel is on special now for US$0.99 so if you like reading Urban Fantasy that features archangels, demons, and powerful ancient artefacts then you can find it here: http://www.amazon.com/Seventh-Sentine....
Hard copies are available though my website : http://www.theseventhsentinel.co.za. I only have a few First Editions left. Next year I will be printing more of course. And now that the four month long postal strike in South Africa is over, mailing the books off will not be a problem anymore.
May you all have a joyful Christmas, eat lots of wonderful food and give tribute to the birthday of Jesus our Lord.

Review of SanClare Black, Jenna Waterford

My rating: 3 of 5 stars
This book started off well and I was enjoying it, until I reached the part of child rape and pedophilia which left me cold. I get that the MC is the Prince of Sorrows and bad things happen to him, but to me it just went too far, so I skimmed most of the scenes where this occurred.
I did not like the society the author created that went along with this sort of terrible behaviour from it’s citizens, but if you’re okay with reading about a fictional world where this kind of thing is swept under the carpet then go ahead. Although how a child who has magic even if he’s forgotten who he is, even if magic is forbidden in this society, can’t figure out a way to use it, until the very end, to defend himself against violent rape…well, what can I say. And even though the MC and his friend Pol are young, I just don’t see how Pol could turn a blind eye to his father’s machinations and his friend’s suffering and who always turned up at the last moment to pick up the MC from the pavement.
There was also a lot of telling about the emotions of the characters, which made it hard to connect with them.
For me, without all the child rape and abuse it would have been an interesting book to read.
