This is how I write
“A sight, an emotion, creates this wave in the mind, long before it makes words to fit it.” Virginia Woolf
“Beneath memory and experience, beneath imagination and invention, beneath words, there are rhythms to which memory and imagination and words all move; the writer’s job is to go down deep enough to feel that rhythm and let it move memory and imagination to find the words.” Ursula LeGuin
Fatherhood
My Dad kept a copy of my poem “Fatherhood,” which I wrote for him, under the cash register in his store until the day he died. I miss him every day.
Happy Father’s Day
When I was a boy of 14, my father was so ignorant I could hardly stand to have the old man around. But when I got to be 21, I was astonished at how much the old man had learned in seven years. – Mark Twain
