What’s The Point Of Doing That?

What’s the point of starting if you’re not committed to finishing?

What’s the point of learning if you aren’t willing to try something new?

What’s the point of failing if you don’t get better the next time out?

What’s the point of what you’re doing right now?

To find happiness? To pay off debt? To get a better job? To win awards? To make the right decision about a big decision right in front of you?

What’s the point?

Do you know? You’d better.

If you’re not clear on your purpose you probably shouldn’t be doing what you’re doing in the first place.

What’s the point?

What if you spend all day today doing things that don’t have a point? And then do that again tomorrow and the day after that?

And what if you spend your whole life not thinking to do things that have meaning and purpose to you?

You might call that a tragic waste of a magnificent opportunity.

Earning What You Want From Life.

You’ve often heard that “anything worth doing is worth doing right”.

And while that is certainly easy to agree with, doing it is another story. It’s a lesson in earning.

Earning what you want from life is about doing the hard things that you naturally make excuses to avoid doing.

Earning more from life means you have to put in more effort. More agony. More of yourself. It’s not a ritual.

It’s a ridiculous level of commitment.

Scary, you might say. Unhealthy. Imbalanced. Unreasonable.

Earning more demands more.

It stops being fun, funny, or fantastic. It’s about a singular focus on a few key things that you think are important.

The cool thing is that you get to decide what matters most.

You get to decide what you want.

You can pick anything or everything. And you probably already have done that. Several times over.

Have you earned it? Have you earned what you want from life? Think about that the next time you find yourself struggling for answers.

It doesn’t matter what you want from life — if you’re not willing to earn it, you won’t get it. It doesn’t matter how smart you are. It doesn’t matter how rich, brilliant, or well connected you might be.

You have to earn your happiness.

Train hard every day. Show up to the game each day. Improve, empower, and engage each day.

It’s not one big brilliant thing that you can do. It’s not one grand gesture.

It’s about fighting as hard as you can every day between the time and place where you are now and when you get to where you want to be.

That’s how you earn it. By putting in the effort.

Your Worst Enemy.

Change doesn’t happen until you ask hard, uncomfortable questions of yourself.

Success doesn’t happen until you drive past the excuses holding you back and dig in to the underlying issues that drive your behavior.

You’re still stuck because you’re not being tough enough on yourself.

That’s the tough truth.

You’re losing because you won’t have a conversation with yourself about what really matters.

About your weaknesses. About your vices. About the excuses you make. And the accountability you shrug off.

You can’t get better until you get serious about the true condition of your soul. You can’t improve until you embrace yourself for who you really are — warts and all.

You’re only hiding from yourself anyways.

Most of the time other people already know what you refuse to admit about yourself.

They can see when you’re lazy. They can see when you act selfishly. They watch as you refuse to accept responsibility for your actions.

They already know who you are.

You’re only playing games with yourself.

And what is silly and sad is that those games are only hurting you. They are holding you back.

Stopping you from achieving your dreams. Trampling your chances at greatness.

It is you who is your worst enemy.

How To Tell If You’re Really Serious About Being Successful.

If you’re going to change your life for the better you’re going to have to do it sleeping less.

Awesome people obsessed with outrageous causes get less sleep than everyone else. They do.

Like it. Hate it. Question it.

No matter what your reaction is to that — it doesn’t change the truth.

When there is too much to do, what doesn’t get left out is the important stuff. What gets left out is the sleeping part.

Sleep less. Win more.

It’s not an exhibition of machismo or something to brag about. It’s just the reality of conquering the world.

It costs you something. It hurts. Sometimes you’re miserable. And a lot of the time you’re doing all of that with less sleep than you really need to be healthy.

It’s not fun or easy.

If you call yourself obsessed with a mission ask yourself: “When was the last time you lost sleep so that you could work towards accomplishing your dream?”

Be brutally honest with yourself for a minute.

Think about it.

Are you willing to wake up earlier than everyone else so that you can find the time to train like a champion? Are you willing to keep working while everyone else is watching late-night TV so that you can get the work done that will propel you towards your big goals?

The honest answer you give yourself is telling. It reveals how committed you really are.

It tests your obsession with greatness.

Anyone can try hard while the sun is shining brightly, but to toil through the night when no one is watching or rewarding your efforts — that’s when you’re serious.

If it’s easier to lose your dream than lose sleep it wasn’t a dream in the first place.

It was just wishful thinking.

The Hard Truth About Why You Can’t Stay Motivated.

If your goal is important enough, you’ll stay motivated long enough to see it through.

That’s the hard truth about inspiration. It’s the one thing you lose just after you stop looking for it.

When your goals aren’t  important enough — when they don’t really matter all that much to you — you struggle to stay motivated long enough to see them through.

You stutter step.

You stop and start and stop again. You say you want to be successful, but your behavior doesn’t line up with your words and thoughts.

Which is probably a clear indication that your goal isn’t all that important to you. It’s a “nice to have”. It’s not change that you need to have.

And while you might object to hard truth at first blush, it is hard to deny how quickly your life changes when you really want to change.

When you need to change.

You might talk about wanting to get healthy, but once you find yourself dying of diabetes you’ll start changing your eating habits a whole lot more quickly.

You might talk about getting in shape and wanting to run that marathon, but once you hear from your doctor that you’re dying from high cholesterol and an unhealthy heart, it’s amazing how quickly you find the time to get in shape and drop the pounds.

Whether it’s a wake up call with kids, your job, money, your personal relationships or your health — you start changing for the better when a goal really means something to you.

That’s the hard truth.

You don’t lack motivation when you really need to change.

Needing it fuels all the motivation you need.

That is the secret to staying inspired in spite of your daily grind.

Attach what you’re doing to the need you have in your life right now.
Internalize what you’re doing and map your activities to what really matters most to you.
Stop doing things right now that don’t line up with life-changing goals.
Take time each day to meditate and think about the change you so desperately need in your life right now.
Get physical with your goals. Work up a sweat. Go running. Start changing on the outside.

You can say you want to change, but if you can’t stay motivated to change, you probably don’t really want to change as badly as you think you do.

You want what is convenient.

You want easy success. Unfortunately, that type of success doesn’t exist.

Here’s the truth — if you can’t stay motivated, then you’re probably not focused on something that really matters to you.

Change that. Set yourself on fire — even if it means leaving everything that you’ve ever known in order to pursue the future you really want for yourself.

Live inspired.

It’s not worth it to just go through the motions.

Pursue awesome.

If You Will, It Will.

You don’t get forever. You don’t get whenever. You don’t get whatever.

You aren’t guaranteed anything. Life isn’t fair. Time isn’t endless. Money and friends are fleeting.

All you get is what is what you have and what you’re willing to do. That’s it.

Nothing more. And nothing less.

You don’t have less of what you need to be awesome than anyone else. You don’t have less of a chance to change the world because you have less money in your bank account, fewer friends with power, and not enough resources to finish what you start.

What you need, you have. The stuff that really matters — it’s readily available.

It doesn’t need fame or cost a fortune.

It’s inside you right now. Inside your soul.

It’s called will — a reason to fight. A chance at challenging the impossible. Passion. Purpose. Potential.

And it can change the world, if you use it.

It can get you the job of your dreams, fix your broken relationships, drive you to make more money, and open your eyes to new possibilities.

Whatever. Whenever. Forever. You don’t get them.

You get right now. This moment.

In the place where you already are. With the resources and relationships you already have.

It takes will to change your world. It takes guts to get what you want for yourself.

It takes unrelenting passion and purpose to dig your way out of trouble.

It’s uncomfortable. And personal.

Trying and deeply personal.

You’re going to get hurt.

You’re going to lose money and friends and popularity. It’s going to seem like nothing you’re doing is going to work.

One things is forever true:

If you will, it will.

If you’re willing, things can change.

If you’re willing to work hard. If you’re willing to look stupid. If you’re willing to learn from your mistakes. If you’re willing to keep going.

If you’re willing to do the hard stuff.

If you’re willing — you don’t need whatever or forever or whenever.

You have what you need. Your will, your want, your need to get to where you want to be.

That’s enough.

17 Things You Should Never Do If You Want To Be Successful.

Never believe everything other people say about you — both good and bad.
Never stop believing that you can achieve anything you put your mind and effort to.
Never let negative thoughts determine your response to important decisions.
Never forget the lessons you learned failing in the past.
Never get too big to appreciate the small delights in life.
Never be too arrogant to apologize when you make mistakes or hurt other people.
Never sacrifice future success for immediate gratification.
Never remember your successes for too long.
Never throw away life long relationships because your feelings get hurt.
Never forget that you’re flawed, fallible, and fantastically human — along with everyone else.
Never plan to save later, invest later, or live your life to the fullest later.
Never be the type of person others don’t feel like they can reach out to for help.
Never let a lack of hard work be the only reason why you’re not successful.
Never believe that playing by the rules and following the crowd will lead to happiness.
Never confuse money with success, or fame with fulfillment.
Never forget that success demands all you have — and then some more.
Never let anyone else put limits on what you think is possible.

Doing Everything Right Still Won’t Make You A Winner.

Just because you do everything right doesn’t mean that you’re still going to win.

Doing what is right doesn’t mean that nothing wrong is going to come into your life.

You don’t get an automatic entry to the podium just because you gave it your all.

Winners still have big problems.

Dealing with frustration and setbacks is a big part of you ever being successful.

The truth is that successful people have the same problems as everyone else.

They experience heartache like you do. They have setbacks in their life. They experience financial loss and unexpected emergencies.

But winners handle problems differently.

Successful people know the danger of letting frustration and confusion dictate their decisions.

It’s dangerous to stop doing the right thing because it feels like doing the right thing isn’t the right thing to be doing.

Anger and revenge can feel pretty satisfying — until you have to deal with the consequences. Which is why you need to take time each day to keep your mind straight.

Winners focus on fixing what they think about.

You need to schedule activities in your life that allow you to get your head back in the game. To get back into the mindset of a champion.

Physical exercise does that better than just about anything else. So does meditation — even for 10 to 15 minutes. Sometimes repeating affirmations about where you want to be in your life helps you get back into a winning mood.

What moves other people might not be something that motivates you to stay focused.

Winners fight to be awesome.

You can’t go through someone else’s motions. You have to develop the inner will to do what works for you to keep your head in the game.

Doing everything right can still lead to disappointment. And if you let that disappointment derail your plan, you’re making the biggest mistake of your life.

Stay focused. Stay inspired. Keep doing the right thing. Be awesome.

The Surprisingly Simple Secret To Getting Unstuck.

Feeling stuck is one of the most frustrating emotions you can ever endure.

Part hopelessness, part fatigue — being stuck is just about as miserable a situation as you will ever find yourself.

If you’re not in that place right now then you’ve been there sometime in the past. You know how frustrating it is when you’re looking for answers and can’t seem to find the answers you so desperately want.

But the surprisingly simple secret about getting unstuck is that it comes down to one single activity. Moving.

If you want to get unstuck, move.

If you’re stuck knee-deep in a financial mess, start moving.
If you’re stuck in a job where you’re not appreciated, start moving.
If you’re stuck in a relationship where there’s no trust or love, start moving.
If you’re stuck being overweight, living an unhealthy life, start moving.

Start moving. That’s the secret to getting unstuck.

You can’t to be stuck and moving at the same time.

It’s impossible — to “be stuck” is by definition the “inability to move”.

Moving anywhere means you are unstuck.

You don’t need to have the perfect move. Or the fastest move. Or the smartest move. You don’t need to look sexy while moving. But you do need to move if you want to be unstuck.

Take one step each day. A small step. A step towards where you want to go.

Save a little more. Exercise a little more. Give a little more. Eat a little bit better. Watch a little less TV.

And while that doesn’t sound like the perfect answer to your complex problem, it is the only guaranteed strategy to pull you up from your misery to a place of fulfillment that you can only dream about right now.

You moving. Figuratively. Literally. Consistently. Moving.

You can’t be stuck if you refuse to stay still. You can’t be stuck if you’re moving.

It’s that simple.

Every day is a choice for you to mope in your misery while staying stuck or to decide to start moving towards the place you want to be.

Start moving.

The Painful Irony Of Massive Success.

You can’t experience greatness without enduring suffering. You can’t win without first losing.

That’s the painful irony of success.

The more you avoid failure the more difficult it is for you to achieve the change you want for yourself. The more you do to avoid pain and suffering, the more likely you are to remain feeling helpless.

But that is what is natural for you.

It’s natural and normal and expected for you to shy away from the blows that life brings.

The hard truth is that you can’t get better without first being broken.

What you’re doing now isn’t working. And you just making minor tweaks to your behavior isn’t going to create lasting change for the better

It’s just going to keep you stuck longer.

Which is why suffering is so effective. It propels you to do the hard things that lead to life-changing results.

When you’re beaten down and holding onto your last drop of hope, there isn’t much you’re not willing to change. There isn’t much that you’re willing to hold onto that tightly.

You’re willing to change. Radically.

You’re willing to do whatever it takes to start feeling better.

Suffering is what builds that determination. It’s what develops your inner endurance.

It strengthens your resolve.

When you’re suffering, you’re forced to make hard choices about priorities and your perspective.

You can’t be complacent. You can’t be comfortable.

You’re in pain.

That pain is what is going to turn you into a champion.

But only if you let it drive you towards greatness.

Sweat. Fight. Bleed. Cry. And fight some more.
