One Of Those Days.
Those days you are too immobilized by disgust to continue forward.
Those days you are too consumed by fear to try something new.
Those days when you’re so angry you can’t even think straight.
Those days when the criticism of others makes you want to give up.
Those days when you throw up your hands and don’t even bother to try.
Those days when you stay mired in the disappointment of your failure.
Those days are wasted.
One of those days might have been the day you were supposed to win.
Any one of those days could have been the moment when all of your frustration and hard work, patience, persistence, and passion combined together into glorious victory.
And yet, because you didn’t show up willing to win, you didn’t experience what could have been the greatest day of your life.
All because of one of those days.

Whatever You Do.
Whatever you do, avoid negative people doing it.
Whatever you do, do it to the best of your ability.
Whatever you do, have a plan to do it better the next time.
Whatever you do, surround yourself with people who believe in the cause like you do.
Whatever you do, rethink possibility, challenge convention, and defy comfort.
Whatever you do, do things that nurture your soul and make you feel alive.
Whatever you do, refuse to believe that you have to settle.
Whatever you do, never stop moving towards where you want to be.

What Tough People Know.
Grit doesn’t mean you stick it out — stuck alongside negative people.
Persistence doesn’t mean you have to swim through the sludge of pessimism.
Focus isn’t blind. Discipline isn’t stupid.
The tough truth is that you know where you want to go.
It’s your dream. Your ambition.
Don’t let your ambition get suffocated under the oppression of other people’s criticism and skeptical thinking.
Refuse to let other people’s doubts become an affirmation of your inadequacy.
Fight through the fear that leads you to believe you’re not going to be able to achieve what you want for yourself.
Do the things that matter most.
Prioritize your day so that the things that need to get done end up happening.
Progress is the goal. Daily progress. Hourly progress. Sometimes, minute by minute progress.
You don’t need to be perfect to make progress. You just have to keep moving forward.

You’ve Already Figured It Out.
There are no secret formulas.
There are no guaranteed methods.
There is no “silver bullet” that will solve your problems.
You know everything you need to know in order to get to where you want to be.
You may not know all the steps.
You may not be aware of all of the options available to you. You might even need some help along the way.
But you know what you need to do. There is no secret to that.
The same timeless principles that have worked for every generation since the beginning of time still apply to you:
Hard work is the only way to beat your competitors, solve the challenges in your way, and ensure your survival.
An insatiable appetite for learning is what leads to innovation and that quick fix you’ve been hoping for.
Generosity is the surest way to build trust and guarantee that you get the help you need when you need it most.
Just because everybody else is doing it doesn’t mean that you should be doing it or that it’s even a smart move.
The best move is always to keep moving forward — even if you aren’t exactly sure where you want to end up.
Courage isn’t something you’re born with. It’s a decision you make when something really matters to you.
The truth about success hasn’t changed.
That’s important to remember when things get tough and it’s hard to see your way forward.
When it’s especially dark outside and you’re facing an unknown future, it is easy to fall into the trap of believing that there is something you don’t know or a special process standing between your situation and a magical outcome. You’re just going through what every other great adventurer throughout time has experienced.
Uncertainty. Inadequacy. Doubt, fear, dread, and the horror of knowing you could lose it all in an instant.
There is no secret that could save you. Only hard work and tough choices. And that’s where you should find relief.
You’ve already figured it out. Now there’s work to be done.

Being Valuable Isn’t Enough.
Your mission isn’t to sell your product.
Your goal isn’t to sell your service.
Your measure for achieving success isn’t to sell your big idea.
It’s selling hope.
The idea that things can be different. That you can feel better.
That there is light at the end of the very dark tunnel you are in right now.
If you’re not in the hope business, you’re not on a path to being successful.
Hope is what matters.
At the heart of very shrewd business decision is this accounting of hope.
The more hope you bring, the more likely it is that your idea or solution or product will win the day.
It’s not about numbers. It’s not about savings. It’s not really about profit, loss, growth, experience, or expertise.
It’s about hope.
If you find yourself struggling to win at business it’s probably because you’re not offering people enough hope.
Sometimes you call that value. But customers just call it hope.
It’s on you to deliver it.

Better Sorry Than Safe.
You don’t have to endure the stress and chaos of taking a chance on yourself.
There’s no requirement that you give yourself a fair to achieve the impossible.
You don’t have to keep trying after you failed.
You can play it safe.
It’s painful to want more for yourself and remain unable to attain that which you feel so deeply about.
Over time, it’s natural to move towards safety in your decisions.
Safe choices. Safe partners. Safe ideas. Safe business strategy.
No one gets hurt if things go wrong.
There’s no sorry needed because things won’t “go boom”. You’re good either way.
That’s the problem. Because things that don’t “go boom” usually “go bust”.
Without risk there is no reward. The more the danger, the more delight when you end up winning.
You know that already.
You’re just tired and beaten down from the bottle. You want a break.
A chance to win without having to lay it all on the line.
This moment is when you need to remind yourself how important it is that you get to where you want to be.
It’s better to go down fighting than to never have known the quest for glorious victory.
Better sorry than safe.

One Of Those.
There will be those who let you know that you’re doing it all wrong.
There will be those who make fun of you when you make mistakes.
There will be those who tell you to get more experience before you pursue your dreams.
There will be those who are skeptical about your big ideas.
There will be those who see only the worst in you.
There will be those who underestimate your talents and question your motives.
There will be those who are tirelessly negative in the face of your optimism.
There will be those who pretend to be your friend to take advantage of you.
There will be those who mock your ideals and talk behind your back.
There will be those who call you lucky when your hard work pays off.
There will be those who only see your faults and the worst in you.
There will be those who refuse to give you the benefit of the doubt.
There will be those who tell you that you have it easier than everyone else.
There will be those who make you feel small and lonely and inadequate.
There will be those.
And then there will be those who ignore the rest of those people and do whatever it takes to get to where they want to be.
Be one of those.

Thirsty On Purpose.
Thirst isn’t an accident. It’s a result.
A condition. A state of mind and body and soul.
You are thirsty because you haven’t had enough water.
Your body is screaming out for attention.
Maybe you’re thirsty because you’ve been exercising and haven’t had a chance to re-hydrate yet.
Maybe you’re thirsty because it’s been a long day and you’ve only consumed coffee and soda — and your body is demanding more of the real thing.
Maybe you were thirsty because it’s morning and that’s when you’re used to drinking water.
It doesn’t really matter whether you created the thirst or allowed the thirst to happen.
Thirsty is thirsty.
You need it. You want it. It is all-consuming the longer you wait.
And while it’s easy to understand the bio-mechanics of hydration for the human body, it becomes unnecessarily confusing when the discussion turns to success and getting to where you want to be.
If your whole being isn’t screaming out in rabid desire for something more, then you’re never going to be as successful as you want to be.
That thirst. That desire. That urgency. That desperation.
It has to be in your life — one way or another.
You either have to deliberately create thirst for yourself or let life deliver it at the worst time in the worst possible ways.
You have to be conscious (and deliberate) about staying inspired and focused or you are in for a rude awakening when life demands it from you when you’re least prepared.
Deny yourself the luxury of the status quo.
Make tough choices.
Stop yourself when you make excuses to avoid doing the hard things.
Set the bar higher then you could ever imagine possible for yourself.
Meditate on where you want to be. Obsess about getting there. Work like a maniac every moment possible.
Stay thirsty for possibility.

What It Takes To Solve The Real Problem.
The problem you’re solving isn’t the real problem. Most likely.
It’s the problem you see. What is exposed on the surface.
It is what is producing the discomfort and pain that you’re feeling. But it’s not the real problem.
That’s something different.
Something deeper. Not something you can see.
But you know it’s there. Because you keep experiencing this pain. Over and over and over again.
And when you’re truly honest with yourself the only explanation is that it’s your fault.
You allowed this to happen. You created a situation where this keeps happening.
And right now you’re not willing to address the real issue.
You’re not even willing to admit that it’s a big part of the reason why you keep failing.
Which is why things have to change,
This time, instead of trying to look good to those around you — who don’t really matter anyways — or instead of scrambling desperately to try to assuage the frustration you’re feeling right now, commit to a radical new reality.
Commit to transformation. Unfiltered, uncompromised, unparalleled change in your life.
Not solving discomfort. Not solving symptoms.
Tackling with obsession the difficult issues buried deep in your core that have strangled the life out of your ambition.

It’s Up To You.
It’s up to you whether you get to where you want to be.
Everyone else already has their thing. Their journey. Their challenges. Their unique situation in life.
It’s on you to fight for you. It’s on you to find the best mentors and friends. To keep your mind strong and make smart choices.
You can have it all.
Or you can have none of it.
The choices are endless. There isn’t anything you have to do.
You can say “NO” at any time and stop the pain.
You can make excuses and blame your frustration on lack of sleep or being unlucky in life.
But that still doesn’t change the fact that it’s up to you if you get to where you want to be.
Or if you just spend the rest of your life wishing it were easier.
Now is the time.
Not tomorrow. Not next week. Not when you finish school, get promoted, or settle down. Right now.
You have everything you need to win magnificently.
So it’s time to own your decisions. Own your outcomes. Dig your feet in and decide to fight the fight you’ve been avoiding thus far.
You won’t be the smartest guy in the battle. Or the strongest. The best looking, the one with the most medals, or the fighter that everyone expects to win.
But none of that matters right now.
You have a battle to win. Slowly. But surely. Every day.
That’s all that can consume you. Getting to where you want to be.
It’s up to you. You can make excuses for the rest of your life or you can put in the hard work to actually see things change.
