Copyright Infringement
It sounds great doesn’t it – something for nothing? To be honest before I self-published I thought the same thing.
I regularly run an internet search on my book titles, to see where they turn up and just in case someone has said something nice about em ;)
Well I did my usual search and was amazed to find that my book:
Search for the Saiph (Saiph #1)��was available for download “Free” from unauthorised websites – the majority of them pointed to cloud file stores and it was a simple matter of hitting the download button to obtain a pdf copy of my book.
I must admit I have��been guilty of thinking – sure it’s only 1 copy, what harm can that do, in the great scheme of things? Well… now that��I know��how difficult it is for the majority of self-publishers to sell that 1 copy, I think differently. ��I know how much time and effort has gone into that book. I consider the money spent on – editing, book covers, advertising and of course the author’s time (not including the blood, sweat and tears), and I think; surely I can afford to fork out a few quid or a few dollars for the few hours of entertainment I get from reading that book?
I hope others will also have a think when they come across such obviously illegal files and report them to the hosting site.
If you are the copyright holder it is pretty easy to serve a “Copyright Infringement Notice” on the website host – feel free to use the template below ;) and authors – remember that it is worth doing a regular search on the internet for your titles so that you can find the illegal websites and get your work taken down.

Search for the Saiph – Book 2 of the Saiph Series
To everyone who has purchased Discovery of the Saiph (Book 1) and to everyone who has left feedback thanks. ��It is due to your downloads and feedback that there is actually a Book 2 in the��pipeline; as an indie writer��publishing his first book, I could not have continued the series without my reader’s support.
So please accept a great big fat thanks from me!
I know many of you are patiently waiting for Book 2 in the series – Search for the Saiph. ��Apologies for the lengthy delay, unfortunately the daily grind has got in the way of my writing and I am, sadly, behind on my release date.
The good news, though, is that I am a few weeks from finalising my draft and it will be off to the editors right after, hopefully it’ll be released in around 6-8 weeks. :)
