Release Day – SIDEKICK!

Miss Fury

Miss Fury, First Appeared: Black Fury Newspaper Strip (Bell Syndicate, Sunday, April 6, 1941) Publisher: Bell Syndicate.

Skills/Powers: Miss Fury is my kind of girl. She likes whips, claws, and spiked high-heels. Along with being a skilled athlete, fighter, acrobatic and climber, she very, very wealthy (which never hurts).

Ah, Release Day is finally here. It has been a long crazy road to get to this place, and I am so glad it’s here.Thank you to everyone who has helped along the way.

It is a daunting task to let my fictional baby out into the world, so I thought I would spend the next two weeks showcasing some classic socialite superheroes who never lack for courage.

Enjoy.

Interview with Auralee Wallace

Originally posted on Nicky Peacock - Author:

My path to publication wasn’t exactly paved with golden bricks – wow, that was a lot of “p” alliteration for one sentence. I call Sidekick my first real novel because I didn’t fully commit to my previous attempts. For a long time, I had the mindset that because I loved books, I could write them. Lots of early rejection taught me that this wasn’t necessarily the case. So after my third child was born, I decided to get serious. I read every book on writer’s craft I could get my hands on before I even thought about trying again. It was after all that, I began to write Sidekick. When I finished, I thought agents would be clamoring to sign me on. I was quickly disabused of that notion. While I got a few timid bites, ultimately, the consensus seemed to be that the…

From now on, I would like everyone to refer to me as Madame Doom…

I made this announcement to my family last night, so far it hasn’t taken, but it’s still early days.

Alright, so at this point, you may be thinking, Uh oh, she’s finally lost it. While I’m sure that day will come, it’s not here yet. I’ve just been having fun. It turns out that I like blogging. This has shocked me deeply (see my first post), but it’s true. My upcoming blog tour for the release of Sidekick has forced to write a number of guest posts. I thought this would be a miserable experience, but then I realized I could write about the things I love and that have influenced me creatively. Here’s a sampling of my upcoming posts. I’ll provide the exact dates once I’m sure of what post is going where.

Getting Inspired: Re-writing the B-movie

Five movies I absolutely must see…but maybe not in their entireties

Poster 3 - Screamingskull Poster 2 Giantleeches

I had some fun with this post. Let me tell you there are some movies out that promise to both fascinate and horrify…

Who Would You Rather…(If you don’t know what word goes at the end of this question, this post may not for you…hint: it’s not “be”)

An Exploration of Alpha vs Beta Heroes and Some Pretty Tasteless Fun

The Hulk

Photograph resized. Photographer: kiwanjahttp://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/2.5/

I think the title pretty much covers what’s going on here. I started with Who would you Rather? Bruce Banner or The Hulk? It’s a question for the ages. It will keep you up at night. You’ll have to visit the tour stop if you want my answer.

Going Retro: Classic Female Comic Books Superheroes and Villains

Phantom Lady Madame Doom

I plan to break this topic up into two respective posts, but in both I will explore comic book representations of women in the past. Fun fact: apparently in the early days of comic books, girls read more comics than boys! (Oh! and that’s my alter ego, Madame Doom, featured on the right there)

Well, I hope you have enjoyed this little preview….but if you haven’t, keep it to yourself! You don’t want to make Madame Doom angry…you wouldn’t like her when she’s angry.

The Sidekick Returns! Book Two…

I have been been so busy lately answering interview questions and writing guest posts for my upcoming blog tour coinciding with the release of Sidekick that I have been completely remiss in updating my blog with some important information. A number of beautiful, wonderful, charming, insightful (have I gone too far yet?) reviewers have mentioned their desire for news on a sequel to Sidekick. Let me assure you all, it is in the works. I am beyond excited about Book Two, and I hope (*fingers-crossed*) Escape Publishing feels the same way. As soon as I have more information, I will pass it on. In the meantime, I would like to thank everyone who has expressed interest in a sequel. It means so much.
