Every family has its secrets, and the March family is no exception.

For the March sisters, Match Made in Devon, the bridal shop opened and run by their parents, was a real-world representation of what true love was all about. But for eldest sister Alexandra that kind of perfection has always seemed unreachable.

Alex has spent over fifteen years in Boston, building up an impenetrable shell of confidence and ta...

How to Write – In My Opinion

As of writing this post, I’m three-quarters of the way through Stephen King’s On Writing, and I’m kicking myself repeatedly for not buying it sooner (I’d been vainly searching for a used copy, but bought myself the Kindle version as a reward for achieving a work goal).  The book is absolutely fascinating, and he truly is qualified to write it.  Most exciting so far, though, has been the discovery that Stephen King and I share a writing style!  We both dislike plotting!  Well, actually, I loat...

Selling Books to the Undecided

Twice a year I participate in Leon & Lulu’s “Books & Authors” event.  As I’ve posted many times, it’s an absolutely amazing day since it’s not just a great community event, but it supports local authors AND a portion of all books sold go to charity.  I’ve made some great connections with other Metro Detroit authors (and have purchased and read some of their books as well!) and look forward to it every spring and fall.

When it comes to being a massive sales bonanza, for the authors, though?  N...

I Finished NaNoWriMo 2018…and It’s Not For Me

Yes, NaNoWriMo 2018 will finish in a few hours, and I finished by the barest skin of my teeth.  I’m proud of having done that, just as I’m proud of everyone else who finished, and everyone who tried.  50,000 words in 30 days in no joke, especially with Thanksgiving shoehorned in there (for my American peeps) along with Black Friday/Cyber Monday etc., holiday shopping, and the inevitable slip-and-slide beginning toward Christmas.  I do honestly think that if NaNoWriMo was in, say, March, a lot...

Happy Thanksgiving!

Happy Thanksgiving everybody!  Today I give thanks for my wonderful family and friends, and I also give thanks for everyone that I’ve been fortunate enough to meet (face-to-face AND virtually) through the writing community!

What are you thankful for today?

NaNoWriMo – If it were easy everyone would do it

It’s November 1st, the day we writers look forward to all year because it’s the beginning of the month when we’re allowed to howl in misery, tear at our hair, beat our faces on our keyboards, and in all other ways get to act like a total artiste torturé.  Lolz, just kidding…that’s reserved for November 30th!

No, seriously, I kid…NaNoWriMo is something that we should enjoy, in the same way a runner keeps going through every step of a marathon.  It hurts like hell, we think we won’t make it, bu...
