Updated Back Cover for A Brother's Will
Trust kills just as well as swords…
It’s been three month since the Lord of Cipher departed to the rival lands of Unamia. No word has been sent and his three sons- Andor, Ori and Eryk- have become concerned. Their fears are confirmed when a young girl named Anna arrives riding their father’s war horse. She claims to have found it grazing on her farm, miles away from Unamia.
As acting Lord, Andor decides that Ori- one of the most gifted swordsmen in Kallodhan- must go to Unamia in search of clues. To make haste, Ori’s path runs through the Blackwood, a forest so dark that once within, it is nearly impossible to see. But before he can conquer his childhood fear of the Blackwood Forest, he and his company encounter bizarre circumstances in a nearby town.
After a close brush with death, Eryk grows increasingly paranoid and harbors a secret that makes him wonder if he’s lost his mind. He’s become suspicious of his brothers and if the situation in Cipher doesn’t change soon, he may have to take matters into his own hands.
But if the three brothers are to survive the coming storm, they’ll have to put their differences aside and work together. Only then will they be able to repel the growing threat that seeks to engulf all of Kallodhan.

Another Good Week
I had another good writing week last week. That's two in a row! This has been my best stretch of writing and I hope I can keep it up. Last week I finished 2 more chapters, bringing the total to 15 of 28 written for the first draft. I wrote just over 7,400 words moving the total to 48,000. The first draft is now over half complete. If I can keep this pace, I'd like to have it completed by the end of October. Then it's on to my favorite part... Editing.

Best Writing Week
So last week was by far the best week of writing I've ever produced. I usually aim for 5,000 words a week, but last week I doubled that output, writing over 10,000 words. I also had my best single day of writing with just over 4,000 words. So far, the outline seems to be doing its job by improving my writing speed. I know there are some issues I will have to deal with, but at this point I'm just going to press forward and finish the first draft before revising (which is what I should be doing anyways). I've always had a hard time moving forward if I knew there were problems in past chapters so I'd spend way too much time correcting things that didn't need to be fixed right away. I hope this new process works out and I can continue writing at a steady pace. I don't think I'll have another 10,000 word week anytime soon, but who knows. If you've been watching the Shadows progress bar, you will see it has moved from 28,000/ 80,000 to 40,000/ 84,000 since my last post on July 27th.
Also, I've been listening to Writing Excuses podcasts and have found the advice the writers provide very helpful. The weekly podcasts are by four professional writers: Brandon Sanderson (one of my favourites), Mary Robinette Kowal, Howard Taylor and Dan Wells. They discuss their writing processes as well as provide writing exercises. You can listen to the podcasts here: http://www.writingexcuses.com/

Book Planning
I'm trying something a bit different. Normally I allow the characters and scenes in my books to develop organically. I keep a rough outline of events I'd like to happen, but they're usually just guides.
Over the past few weeks however, I've constructed a chapter by chapter outline for the book I'm currently working on titled Where Shadows go to Die. All chapters have been plotted into an 8,500 word synopsis. We will see if this improves and speeds up my writing process. With the updated outline, I'd like to work towards a finished first draft by the end of the year. I have a feeling this is going to be larger than the 80,000 words I first envisioned it would be, but time will tell. Keep your eye on the Projects Bar titled Shadows. It's currently at 28,000/ 80,000 and I hope to keep it moving.

He sets Eryk to the task of sending for aid, but before this can be done, Eryk will have to breakout of Cipher Castle.
