riverselkie:

simultaneously wishing i were a woodland fairy, a maiden in the scottish highlands who is actually a selkie, a victorian naturalist who scandalously wears pants, a 1960s schoolgirl by the sea, a friendly forest witch, a reef-dwelling mermaid, a ghostly gothic heroine, or maybe a cat

Honestly I’m not gonna survive the apocalypse. Y'all go on gathering berries and drinking cockroach milk (apparently) and forming barter economies and I’m gonna stay in my house until the last of my seltzer runs out and then I’m gonna put on an all cashmere outfit and lay down and die. Have fun fending off the coyotes and doomsday cults and living on expired canned goods in a world with no more Netflix. Pass.

I love when small children identify all quadripedal animals as “doggy!”

It always reminds me of the time Plato offered the definition of a human as any “featherless biped” and Diogenes busted into the Academy with a plucked chicken screaming, “BEHOLD A MAN!”

Just a reminder:

fictionwritingtips:

Writing is hard work and you’ll be rejected…MANY TIMES. Always keep in mind that you wrote a novel. You created something from nothing. I know it’s hard not to feel like a real or accomplished writer unless you have an agent or get published by a BIG publishing company, but you ARE a writer. It might take a long time to reach your goals, but you’ll get there if you keep pushing yourself.

Please enjoy writing and take some time out to give yourself a pat on the back. I’m often very hard on myself and I figured most of you have experienced the same thing. Write because you love writing.

Coconuts have only been in the Caribbean for 500 years. They just….floated on over from Asia and took root. That’s…hilarious.

Wait really? I always thought they were if not native at least brought over on purpose

Right??? I’m watching this nature doc and when the narrator said that I nearly spit my drink giggling. They’re remarkably buoyant and just bob their way to a new shore. So carefree. Truly a fruit destined to be in the Caribbean.

are you suggesting coconuts migrate

The best moments in writing is when you discover you did something absolutely genius by complete accident.

“I love how your eyes

sparkle whenever you

look at me, whenever we talk.

It feels like there are

constellations of bright and

unknown stars

hiding underneath, waiting

for them to be discovered.

They are inviting me to

draw in, into your abyss.

To cast out those majestic lights

to set your sky on fire.

I love how your eyes turn

my frowns into smiles.

With just a lovely stare,

it removes my worrying and doubts.

I love how your eyes completes my day,

I have seen beautiful eyes before,

but yours will always be my favorite.

I love how your eyes shine

like my lucky star.”
