Nino Oxilia (13 November 1889 – 18 November 1917) was an Italian poet, playwright, screenwriter and film director. His 1911 play Addio Giovinezza (Goodbye Youth) was turned into several films. He also wrote the first lyrics for the song "Giovinezza" in 1909 a song about the French revolution and inspired by poet Emilio Praga later exploited by the fascist regime.

He wrote two books of poems (which the second one was published posthumus) and he also directed several films, the most famous is the visionary Rapsodia Satanica (Satanic Rhapsody) made in 1915. He died in combat at 27 during the First World War.

He was an inspiration for writer Francis Scott Fitzgerald which in his novels he created an alter-ego of Oxilia under the name of "Dick". ...more
