The Unwanted Shadow.
Gene Flower has once said, “Writing is easy: All you do is sit staring at a blank sheet of paper until drops of blood form on your forehead”…haha…..I have always liked this one. It’s kind of happened with me too, but the feeling (after one and a half year of writing, proofreading, editing and re-editing) about how the book is presently shaping up is absolutely worth it.
Thanks to the whole team of Half Baked Beans for their support. It is turning out to be a great learning experience working with you
So friends, here is the first teaser of my second book (To be out next year
)
A thriller, the book covers the story of a boy from Mangaldai, who subsequently moves to Delhi to complete his education. After all, this is what he has always planned to do, to take a leap towards his big dreams. And for once he finds new life to be absolutely lovely, like he has often pictured it would be.
But this phase doesn’t last long. His life is soon shattered to pieces when his first relationship meets a tragic end. A sadness like he had never felt before overwhelms him, keeping him wide awake at nights. But it is just the beginning, beginning to a terrible chain of events that would lead him to a deadly confrontation with his own dark past.
Will Mohan be able to overcome his own dark past? Will he ever get solace? Or will his innocence be lost in the intense color of blood.
The book would take you from the crowded market of Bheberghat to the majestic city, Delhi.
In the book- introspection, love, and lots and lots of thrill!!
Hope that when the book is out, you would enjoy reading it just as much as i have enjoyed writing it.

Review of ‘A Salesman’s Lessons’
DESCRIPTION:
What is the ground reality for a Salesman? Do the various laws, theories, hypotheses, anecdotes and sayings of science, mathematics, literature, engineering, management, history in fact, everything that we painstakingly read and absorb in order to gain our college degrees before we start working, equip us for field situations when we actually go into the all too real world of Sales? Can we really use the academic learning we struggled with and paid so much for, to sell better? Are there certain factors (which do not appear in the pages of any college or business school text), that are crucial to success in Sales? In an engaging narrative based on his own 15 years in the field, the Author explores the answers to just these questions. The book is light reading and fun but the lessons it contains are both down to earth and serious. This is not a self help book to make you a Sales champion, but if you do pick up a few tips along the way, then that is a double whammy!
REVIEW:
As the title suggests, the book is all about getting better sales and how to work towards it. The author here has efficiently used all kinds of theories from almost every field to prove his point. The thing that I liked most about the book is that here the author cultivates all his experience as a salesman and uses it to come to his conclusions, which makes this book simple yet quite interesting. And because of it, while reading the book you get convinced of his theories. Also, about his narration, it was simple and logical, and the way he gradually moves from explaining it in normal sense to explaining it in salesmen’s terms is quite appreciable.
All in all, a good read it is.

Review of ‘Horseshoe Garage’
STORY:
Though he has gotten used to his salary and his job at Grant Motors, Sarvesh still finds himself waking up in the middle of the night, his heart pounding with the excitement of a Neo-racing dream. The technologically advanced cars and the smell of the burnt runner of the tyres haunt him all the time.
When Neo-racing creates space for a teal from India. Sarvesh is determined to be a part of it. Tagging along as a non-descript member of another giant team is not going to suffice. Along with his best friend Rags, he is determined to lead his own team on to Neo-racing race circuits.
Naaz is an orphan who has been raised in a garage and has never studied beyond the fourth grade. She has taught herself all that she knows about cars by working alongside sweaty mechanics. This knowledge allows her to deduce in three seconds that the car design created by Sarvesh and Rags will not qualify for Neo-Racing.
Friendship is tested, loyalties are questioned and spirits are broken in this challenging race to achieve an impossible dream.
Horseshoe Garage
REVIEW:
Racing, a thing that has lured countless passionate youngsters onto the tracks, just to feel the rush of it all. The author seems to be a fan too, or else she is just too exceptional at imagining.
“Remember the first time you had sex………….A touch was responded with another touch. The sensible touch part of the brain tried to struggling through the gathering fog to remind you to do everything right. There can be only one first time. Whether it turned out to be your worst nightmare, or made every other dream pale in comparison, the ‘first time’ always stayed with you.
Racing to me is like having sex. For the first time. Everytime”
I liked this para a lot, and subsequent paras like this that the novel was studded with. Besides, the author has also successfully maintained a good flow all through the book, knitting incidents into a respectable story.
The language of the novel is simple and straight-forward, and unlike the tendency of novelists, the author here has kept the sentence short and crisp, nicely complimenting the pace of the story.
“The horseshoe felt cold against my skin. I pushed hard on the pedal, and swerved around the car. I watched in the rear view as the distance between us increased fractionally. When the black and white chequered flag whooshed down my visor I whooped-this one time, I was not going to be the second best”
But, I would have liked a little more introspection of the characters, especially Sarvesh. Would have given more depth to them.
Now coming to the story, I absolutely loved the idea. But everything became so cliché after a while, the twists and turns. The ending was apparent too. I liked the characters though, especially Naaz. But down the road, the author went a bit too far with her talents too. Making a car in five days is something that I can’t see happening with that workforce!! And also some incidents while Sarvesh racing seemed too unrealistic. He had never raced before in his life, and suddenly he is India’s top racer in a week. But I guess this kind of melodrama was needed for the protagonist to attain such dreams, and provide a hunky-dory ending to the readers.
But, despite the plot being a little obvious, I have to say I liked it, especially because of the maturity I find in her language. Hope she writes more, and writes well
