Over Time Pre-Orders!

You can now pre-order Over Time (softcover), and if you want the hardcover it’s just one more day away! Also, check out that cover!

If you want to attend the launch party at FC (and why wouldn’t you?), you will have to pre-order to pick up your book there. Because of business license restrictions, Sofawolf can’t sell the books directly at the release party, but they can deliver pre-orders there.

I will of course be signing in the dealer’s room for the rest of the con, and you can buy your books there. But the launch party (Thursday night) is kinda cool, right?

Over Time Launch Party!

We’re now about a month out from Further Confusion, Over Time is off to the printer, and we’re planning the launch party! It’s on the schedule now from 7 pm to 9 pm Thursday night in the Almaden room at the Marriott.

Right now, the only way for you to get a book for the launch party is to pre-order them. Because of the business license situation, Sofawolf can’t sell the books at the party, but they can deliver pre-orders. So get those pre-orders in when they open up (should be in a few days) and you can have the books signed. There might be extra goodies for those who pre-order, too! (If you can’t pre-order, you can buy the books all weekend in the dealer’s room and I’ll be there to sign them on and off.)

You’ll be able to pick up your Firebirds jersey at the launch party, too, if you ordered one. If you didn’t–sorry! But things look very favorable for you to get them later in 2016.

We’re still finalizing some of the things we’d like to do, but I’d like to do a costume contest and we might have a trivia contest as well, so show up prepared for one or both of those and we’ll call for them as we have time. For sure I will sign, read from the book, and take questions about it; and the artists will (hopefully) be there to answer questions as well. We’re arranging with the hotel to have snacks and possibly a cash bar for refreshments.

It’s kind of sad because this series is coming to a close, but it’s also pretty exciting. I hope a lot of you guys will be able to join us there!

Books Coming Your Way!

Working this week on reviewing the publisher’s proofs of “Over Time” and reviewing my final text for “Black Angel” (as well as the cover art!). Really excited to get these two out!

When we have the book submitted, Sofawolf will start the pre-order process for “Over Time” and as usual, I will sign any pre-ordered books (I’m flying out to Minnesota in January AGAIN for you people). We’ll have hardcover (with bonus story included) and softcover versions available, and you will be able to pick them up at FC if you want to avoid shipping costs. Keep an eye on the Sofawolf blog and on this space for further news…and as usual, all publication dates and info that I have will be on my website.

Last Day for Firebirds Jerseys!

Tonight at midnight Eastern time (9 pm Pacific), I’ll shut down the Firebirds jersey store for 2015. Possibly to re-open next year (hopefully), but we need to cut off the orders here so that people who select pickup at FC can get their jerseys. If you haven’t ordered yet and want one, go get yours!

Updated Waterways E-book

After all these years, I finally updated the Waterways e-book. I’ve licensed the illustrations by John Nunnemacher so those are now included, and I’ve separated the book into more manageable chapters that match the audiobook chapters. I’ve also gone through and re-checked all the formatting, so it should be cleaner than it’s ever been. And as a bonus, I added a preview chapter of “Green Fairy” to the end, so if you haven’t tried that book you can get a free peek at it.

It’s on iTunes, Kindle, Kobo, NOOK, Google Play, and Bad Dog Books for now. If you already own it, check the policy of the store where you bought it for how to download your updated version. I don’t know the policies, so I won’t be able to help you. If you find that one of the stores isn’t featuring the updated version yet, though, please do let me know so I can try to correct that ASAP.

ETA: Bad Dog Books has posted a blog with their update policy.

Retconning Aston’s Jersey

So thanks to a fan on Twitter (@PPC91), my attention was brought to the fact that I’ve listed Aston’s jersey number as #14, while in the illustration in Uncovered, he’s wearing #12. I have investigated the text and found that at one point Lee sees someone wearing #14, which he says is Aston’s jersey, while in the next book Dev says to Strike that Aston’s jersey sales have tailed off because “lots of people already have their number 12.”

So what gives? Well, outside the universe, the simple explanation is that I forgot about it. But what about inside?

When Aston joined the Firebirds as a rookie, he wanted #12, but that jersey was being worn by the Firebirds’ veteran QB, who wasn’t about to hand it over to a rookie who wanted to take his job. So Aston took #14, reluctantly. The next year, though, that QB was let go, and when #12 became available, Aston switched to that jersey number.

THEREFORE there are still some #14 jerseys with Aston’s name on them out there from his rookie season, and they’re worn by die-hard fans, but the current jersey and better seller is #12.

That work for everyone?

Losing My Religion e-book out now in more stores

On iTunes and Kobo right now (and theoretically Google Play according to their dashboard although I couldn’t get it to come up in the store), Amazon and NOOK probably later today. Also still on Bad Dog Books, of course, and coming soon to Jaffa Books and Rabbit Valley.

LMR E-book coming next week to major stores

Hey guys,

Slight delay in the LMR e-book release to Amazon, iTunes, Google, etc. (It is of course already on baddogbooks.com and you can buy it there). I’m going through final proofing and assembly on Over Time and I need to crank that out, so I’m putting the e-book upload on hold ’til that’s done. Considering you can already buy it (on baddogbooks.com), I’m hoping that’s not a big deal. And thanks to all of you who’ve read it and said nice things on Twitter and elsewhere! Really appreciated. :)

I’ll update Over Time pre-order status and release party info sometime soon. It looks like we’ll be on for Thursday night from 7-9 at FC, so block that time off. I’ll be there, as will the artists (hopefully) and if you pre-0rder you can pick up your book there. Not sure if you’ll be able to buy it at the party (business license rules), but if not you can get it in the dealer’s room Friday for sure. We’re hoping to do a couple contests, maybe costume or trivia, so brush up on the books and come as your favorite character!

Podcast This Weekend!

No, not Unsheathed… I’m going to be a guest on the South Afrifur podcast. They have written a lovely flattering write-up on me here: http://south-afrifur.tumblr.com/post/131170485730/kyell-gold-the-fox-behind-the-book which I link because it has links for the time and place to listen to the podcast.

I did not know there was a South African fandom but I am delighted to find out there is and even more excited to chat with them for a while Saturday morning (my time)/evening (their time). They very kindly moved their day and time to accommodate my schedule so please give them a listen!

Firebirds Jerseys On Sale!

If you have read this month’s mailing list entry, you know this already. For everyone else: Finally, after a year and change, I’ve managed to get the Firebirds jerseys on sale. For now they are only the home red jersey, but if you have seen me or a few others around cons with them in the past year, yes, these are the same (we may tweak the gold to be a little brighter in this batch). Because we have to place a large order with the manufacturer (as these are custom), I will be collecting pre-orders until November 10, at which point jersey sales will be over for 2015. It is likely that we will do a batch of them at least once a year (and I will investigate other options with the manufacturer–I would like nothing more than for you to be able to go to a page on their site and order your own jersey from them, but they may not be interested in doing that), and might add variants from year to year.

For now, though, you can get your jerseys in time for the release party for “Over Time” at Further Confusion (and you can save on shipping if you want to pick yours up at FC–select that option when you check out). Be sure to put the number and name you want into the notes when you place your order. Now go get your uniform!
