I will be in Edinburgh Next Week…

Next week I will be in Edinburgh for three reasons:

BBC FRINGE POETRY SLAM

I will be one of the judges for the BBC Fringe Poetry Slam which I am looking forward to. The list of contenders looks good and I anticipate a closely fought contest. The heats are Mon-Thurs in the BBC festival area on Potterow and the final is on Saturday night.

More info HERE and HERE.

I have been booed for being too tough on two previous outings as a slam judge or at least because the audience disagreed with me. Let’s see what happens this time!

MONKEY POET & BURNING EYE PRESENT…

Matt Panesh AKA Monkey Poet has kindly donated some of his slots at the Banshee Labyrinth for us to showcase a few Burning Eye poets. In addition next Tuesday 25th I will be joining Matt myself at 12.50 and 16.45. The plan is to read a few of my favourite poems from the first 50 Burning Eye titles and explain what I look for in hunting out prospective Burning Eye titles to publish. I’ll also answer any questions from the floor. So if you are a. going to be in Edinburgh next week b. are a poet (or not – come anyway!) and c. interested in hearing not just what it takes to get published by Burning Eye but what it takes (in my experience) to get published in general – come along and join us. It is a free and unticketed event. You’ll also get a heads up on the next submissions window before anyone else.

I might also read a poem or two of my own or read one of the more lurid sections of Time Travel Hotel – just to keep my hand in.

Details HERE

Reason three? I plan to catch a few shows, catch up with a few people and generally have some fun. See you there.
