Stormdancer's Main Character Revealed!

Good afternoon everyone (and good morning/evening to those not in the CST/EST area)!I'm typing this up from work because, frankly, I'm bored. Anyway, for those of you who know of my DeviantART, I've recently played around with it and made it a bit more appealing for people who still use it. I don't really post on it anymore, but I do keep up with my watchers and the artists I'm in contact with :)Now let's get down to business! The picture you see is, you guessed it, the main character of[image error]

Texas, Guns, & Ready to Roll

Good morning from Texas, everyone! I know it's been a seriously long while since I've updated my blog and even my Twitter has been fairly barren and I'd like to apologize for that. This was my first time moving so far away from my home state of New Jersey and adjusting is (and was) really hectic.I recently got a job at a firearms company here in Texas and I work a lot more than I'm used to (though that's not a complaint -- I love the paycheck I get!), which has been making it difficult for me...

Don't worry about that 1 Arrow (Archery!)

No, seriously, don't worry about that one arrow. Upon settling into my temporary home (after a month or two, my boyfriend, Charlie, and I will be moving into a bigger one to accomodate our needs), I immediately set off to find an archery range so that I can finally use my bow. The place is about an hour away from the house (it's nothing for people who live in Texas, but a lot to me when in Jersey, an hour brings you pretty far down into the state), but it looked promising. I visited

Road Trip to my New Home

New Year, new chapter in my life. If you've been reading my posts, you have been aware of my move to Texas for quite a while now. On January 1st, after sleeping in a bit from ringing in the New Year, my boyfriend and I embarked on a 21 hour drive (road trip) to Houston, Texas from Northern New Jersey. It was an extremely tiring trip, but I was glad to have my boyfriend's company and the music to drown out the meows of my two cats in the back of the car. I've been here in Texas for a few

What if we lived our lives without knowing we were actually dead?

Goodness, I apologize with the absence! With NaNoWriMo over and this being the last month here in Jersey, I have a lot of things on my plate and a thousand paged to-do list. Basically, what I'm saying is; prepare for a month-long (maybe a bit more) absence. There won't be internet for a bit when I move in January, so it'll make updating a lot harder for me. Okay, so what's with the blog title? Actually, just on my way home from work, I was hit with an idea for a novella (or maybe a novel

The Big Five-Oh-K! (NaNo: Day 23)

HOLY COW I'M SO HYPED AND EXCITED AND PROUD AND TOO MANY ANDS. Good evening, everyone and I'm so glad that you're still with me on this wonderful journey called NaNoWriMo. It's been a long, amazing (and sometimes stressful) haul to get to where I am. Despite my battles with depression during this time, I was able to come out on top. Last night, I told myself that I would get to the NaNo goal of 50,000 words since I had hit 46,781 words before having to go to bed. Today, with the help of

A Little Insight into Stormdancer's MC (NaNo: Day 22)

I just wanted to share something about the main character in my novel,Stormdancer. Her name is Anaya (that's not what I wanted to share) and she is one of my favorite characters to write in a post-apocalyptic setting (and my hardest). But why my hardest? Stupid me thought it would be easy to write a character with a certain disability when I, myself, share the same one. Nearsightedness. My vision is absolutely horrendous and I prove people this by letting them take a gander through the

OH MY, I HIT 40K (NaNo: Day 18)

AAAAAAAAWWWWWWYEEEEEEEEEE!! Hello everyone! Today, I made my goal for me to hit 40k. I had finished yesterday off with 34521 words and I just had enough of being stuck in the 30k range. With our region vs region (NJ vs NYC) word war, I decided today would be the best day to have such a high word goal. But what are word wars?Well, you see, a word war is also a word sprint. Basically, for a set amount of time, you write and only write. Normally it's to "compete" against other

Creating Escapes for Myself & My Readers (NaNo: Day 17)

Today was a bit better, but I'm still stuck in my pit. I barely genuinely smiled and I've been feeling guilty with a slipup I went through last night. I didn't think I'd get anything done today, but I pushed myself. I wanted to stay ahead of the game, even if my heart wasn't in it. Mid-writing, I got a bit carried away. I lost myself in my own story and realized how much of a therapy writing has become for me. I also realized that by creating my own worlds through words, I create an escape

It Hits When you Least Expect it.

The past several days have been rough. Working two jobs is really taking a toll on me physically, mentally, and emotionally. On Saturday, I decided to give myself a break from writing. Sunday, I forced myself to write and got out 1.022 words. Today is different. Due to personal issues, I have fallen into a pit of depression which has been keeping me from writing. I just have no motivation to do it today and my mind has grown completely blank. I don't think my manuscript is shit (but it
