5E D&D Race: Ilmar

Originally posted on The Art of Storytelling:
The ILMAR are a primitive human culture native to Aenya distinguished by their absence of clothing. Due to their rejection of social norms, and prehistoric ways of living, the civilized races of Aenya consider them a lesser subspecies. They are called savages, wild humans, feral children, or barbarians…

Thelana 5e

Have you ever wanted to play Thelana in D&D? Well NOW you can! As long as you’ve got an open minded DM and a gaming group willing to accept an Ilmarin into the campaign, refer to the stat block below, which approximates Thelana’s abilities in Hedonia, when she first climbed into the Temple of Sargonus... Who is Kalima?

Who is Kalima and how does she relate to the Aenya Series? Well, she started out as my wife’s D&D character, a grumpy but endearing female dwarf, and is now being featured in my daughter’s YouTube animated series, 2D&D. We’ve been playing 5th edition for five years now, in a campaign that started out in... Continue Reading →

The Witcher: Baptism of Fire

I felt pressured to reading the Witcher after the series was turned into a Netflix original starring Henry Cavill, and a trilogy of video games for PC, PS4 and Xbox. Even my nephew, who abhors reading anything more than a JRPG dialogue box, told me he had read the first book, so I figured I... Continue Reading →

Where is my book?

To all the winners of my free book giveaway: I would like to inform you that all of your books should be in the mail or be delivered by now. I must apologize for the delay, but unfortunately, the Post Office returned some of the books due to the fact that I included "Thank You" cards with the shipment, which is against their media mail rate policy. So if you have yet to receive your copy of "The Princess of Aenya," this is the reason, and again, my apologies. If you have any other questions, please do not hesitate to ask!

How to be a Dungeon Master

It’s probably no secret by now that I love Dungeons & Dragons. I’ve been playing for about thirty years, since 1985~86, and it’s been like kerosene for the flame of my imagination. Before D&D exploded in popularity, I was embarrassed to tell people I played, as if no serious author could harbor so much love... Continue Reading →

Aenya D&D and YouTube

Hey everyone! So it’s been dawning on me that blogging is going the way of disco. Nobody wants to read blogs anymore, unless you’re uniquely dedicated to some super-niche interest (you know who you are). Thing is, my stories speak to a broad audience. Take away whatever niche aspects they might contain, and Ages of... Continue Reading →

Book Blurb: Terry Pratchett’s The Color of Magic

I have long argued that the most important thing in storytelling is the quality and originality of its ideas. Not every book needs engaging characters or a gripping plot, so long as the ideas the author provides are interesting, insightful, or inspiring. By contrast, too many writers these days stick to the by-the-numbers guidelines for... Continue Reading →
