A trip home
This weekend, I travelled to my birth town to visit friends, and of course I took my camera with me. As you may know, I’ve wanted to upgrade to a wide-angle lens from day one, but the Arjeplog scenery cranked that wish up to 11! There’s just no way you can do justice to views like this without a better lens.
The town is basically a series of lakes with a few houses sprinkled on top.
Water, water everywhere! I’d forgotten how beautiful it was.
The unique pink church, that got its colour because there was just a lot of white paint and a few buckets of red.[image error]
I only had my phone with me when we went to the pub, so the midnight pictures are a bit crappy, but still: look at that smooth water, that pink sky, that moon!
And of course, on the way back south this morning, the mandatory reindeer on the road.[image error]

Just some food
Some fennel soaked in oil and lemon make a delicious salad together with diced peaches, tomatoes and chilli flakes.
Even marinated pork and beer can be poetic.
No evening of grilling is complete without a sh*tload of vegetables.
Don’t forget to add some sun!

A perfect day…
… begins with a breakfast consisting of strawberries and filmjölk (kind of like yoghurt, but a million times tastier) on a sundrenched lawn.
After that, an hour of lazy lounging in the hammock.
In the afternoon, it’s time for a boat trip down the creek.
Beneath the water, the seaweed swayed gently in the currents, like something from a Pre-Raphaelite painting.
Reeds against a flawless blue sky.
Water lilies floating on the dark brown water.
The creek leads to a lake, where you feel like you’re the only person left on Earth. Just the sun beating down, the splashing of the water against the oars, the odd fly buzzing past, and the rest… is absolute silence.
On the other side of the lake, we found a little cabin. The wood was so weathered, it was almost white.
On the lake shore, cotton grass was blowing in the wind.
Look at that thing! It’s as if it’s dancing, twirling its furry skirts in the sunshine.

Midnight car trip
On the way home from an entire evening of ‘midnight flea market’ shopping (I think we managed to visit about thirty of them in seven hours, but there were over sixty in the neighbourhood!), we came upon this glorious sight: the full moon, reflected in a lake.
Cradled by the reeds…
And to the northwest, some residual pink from the sunset.
Back at the cabin, my beloved misty creek was watched over by the moon, too.

After the day’s toil
These working gloves were laid on the balcony to dry in the evening sun. Below them, a different kind of creature had been busy too.
The spirit of the country cottage.

Dewdrop
What I really love about photography is that it encourages you to really look at the world, and to notice all the small miracles. Like this dewdrop, shaped like a heart, reflecting the pine trees and the overcast sky, and generally looking like a frigging diamond!

Blinded by the light
Backlit beauties
The underrated willow herb
The willow herb really was on its best behaviour yesterday. Can you believe people try their utmost to keep these beauties out of their gardens?

Summer flowers
Since the day was overcast, I decided to photograph colourful things (as per advice in photography books), ie flowers.
Of course, before I knew it, the sun came out, and I ended up with a completely different kind of pictures!
