Discover St. Vincent and the Grenadines – History and People

Columbus_third_voyageMany sources site Christopher Columbus as having discovered St. Vincent on January 22nd 1498, during his third exploratory voyage to the West Indies. It is said he named the island after Vincent of Saragossa, the patron saint of Portugal, who is celebrated on that day. Problem is on that date, Columbus was nowhere near the Caribbean. He had not yet departed Spain, setting out on his third voyage much later, in May of 1498. There is no evidence to indicate Columbus ever saw or set foot on St....

Discover St. Vincent and the Grenadines – How the islands came into being….

Saint Vincent and the Grenadines

St. Vincent and the Grenadines is part of an island chain in the southeastern Caribbean called the Lesser Antilles, or Windward Islands. Referred to as the “Gem of the Antilles,” St. Vincent and the Grenadines is comprised of St. Vincent, Bequia, Canouan, Mayreau, Mustique, Union Island, and many smaller Islands and Cays. Mainland St. Vincent is relatively young, about 3 million years old.

The Islands sit on, and were formed by the Caribbean tectonic plate, pushed upward by either or both the...

5 Star Book Review – The Second Captive by Maggie James

[image error]5 stars icon Pulse Quickening Suspense

In my reviews of previous Maggie James novels, I’ve mentioned her uncanny talent for planting you inside her characters’ heads, conveying a sense of logical rationality to their psychological dysfunctions. It’s worth repeating, since Maggie’s latest release, The Second Captive, is another excellent example.

The psychological flaws of her characters, so convincingly drawn by an author having no background in psychology, are testament to her talent. Her characters gro...

5 Star Book Review – Thrill Driven by Candi Silk

Thrill Driven 5 stars icon

Romance on steroids:

I don’t read much erotica, much less review novels of that genre. It’s not that I dislike or have anything against the genre, it just wasn’t at the top of my preferred reading list. Until I discovered Candi Silk. I won’t bother commenting on style, language, or word choice, since none of that speaks to the core essence of what Candi’s novels are all about, demonstrated once again with typical passionate heat in the just released Thrill Driven.

As the title aptly implies, Ca...

5 Star Book Review – The Exit Man by Greg Levin

Exit Man 5 stars icon

A Surprise Gem

I purchased The Exit Man by Greg Levin on the recommendation of a fellow author. I was not asked to review it, but following what turned out to be a surprisingly delightful and non-stop read, I couldn’t resist the urge to comment.

I loved Exit Man, and was frankly surprised by how effortlessly it managed to not only absorb my attention, but convey a sense of humor given the subject matter. Even repeated use of the conjunctive ‘that’, a sentence construction I reflexively abhor, d...
