Story Sent Out on the Tide
I finished a short story this week. I've been working mostly on Long Waltz, the sequel to Fool's Run, but I had a burst of creative energy spurred by a spurt of reading short stories.
It's nice when things come together. As in many cases, the story, or its essence anyway, had been on my mind a while.
It's a subtle and tight 1100 words and called "Strange We Should Meet Here."
I submitted to a huge market. I'll move on from there. Submission takes a while.

New T-Shirt
I got a fabulous new T-shirt from Fright Rags, beautiful rendering of The Bride.

Based on friends' reactions, it's slimming too.

Disciples Giveaway

Thanks to all who entered the giveaway for Disciples of the Serpent.
Signed copies shipped yesterday and are headed toward the three winners, interestingly one East Coast, one West Coast and one Midwest.
That's a nice distribution, taking the adventures of Special Detective Aileen O’Donnell and the O.C.L.T. coast to coast.

Cover Model

I just discovered the other day that Ali Larter was the artist's model for my third novel from Pinnacle, Blood Hunter.
Just a bit of trivia, but it's kind of fun to discover that factoid.
The character in the book most-alined with the figure on the cover is a bit older, but so it goes.

The Making of the short Story Playmate
It's a post on ye olde other blog, but I jotted down a few thoughts about how my story in the magazine Dark Dossier, #56, came to be.

Fool's Run - The Audiobook

I'm really pleased with audiobook version of my novel, Fool's Run
It's read by Josh Brogadir who has lent his voice to many great titles including some by the great Charles L. Grant.
He provides a great tone for my first person narrator Si Reardon, a former police detective tasked with the dirtiest of jobs in contemporary New Orleans.
I know many publishers don't put authors and narrators in contact, but Crossroad Press does, and it was great fun working with Josh on Louisiana pronunciations, and we even discovered a few details I tweaked on the manuscript.

Check the title out on Audible here, and definitely give it a listen if you have Audible credits to use.
