"Maleficent" lets Disney portray a form of date rape

Angelina Jolie in Disney's Finally watched “Maleficent,” Disney’s bastardization — er, re-imagining of their version of the “Sleeping Beauty” story.


Overall I enjoyed the movie. Angelina Jolie was a perfect casting choice, portraying Maleficent’s evil as expertly as she portrayed her angst and (spoiler) redemption.


Two problems — Disney rape and the pussification of classic villains. Let’s talk below the fold. Spoilers follow.
