Crowdsourcing: Ten Worst American Generals

David Corn's tough-but-fair hit piece on Gen. Tommy Franks links to Tom Ricks' list of the 10 worst generals in US history, on which Franks ranks fourth.

Boston Bar Evening

I'll be in Boston for the night of the 3rd debate, October 22. It'll be busy afterward, but if any friends and readers would like to meet beforehand, I'll be having a drink in the bar of the Boston Four Seasons hotel from 7 to 8:30 pm.

Policing the Grammar Police

Last night's excursion into presidential humor (some self-depreciating, some not) reminds me of this blogpost we ran here six months ago about the use of the word "self-deprecating":

Pet Lovers: the HSUS isn't for You

Douglas Anthony Cooper tells the truth about the Humane Society of the United States. I've quoted quite a bit, but please read the entire article. It is painful to read, but pet lovers all around will be horrified to hear the truth about this organization that raises so much money with ads of cute dogs and cats.
