New Year, Same You

Every New Year, resolutions are in the air. The determination to make changes, set goals, reinvention, etc. And there’s absolutely nothing wrong with any of that, but what if there’s absolutely nothing wrong with you just being you?
This year, let’s be different by being our same selves. Don’t get me wrong, tweaking or working on resolving some bad habits is always a good thing. Just… Maybe be more accepting of yourselves as is. The world wants us to strive to fit into boxes its labeled, typica...

The Simple Life: Holiday Edition

“Christmas was so hectic, we didn’t even get to enjoy it!”
Am I the only one who has stated this in past Christmases? For years, all the shopping, baking, planning, get-togethers, and parties have had our calendars stuffed much like the oversized turkeys that took hours upon hours to prep and cook and only minutes to devour.
Most years my head spins with all the goings on to the point of not knowing whether I’m coming or going, but not this year. We finally have a legitimate excuse to say NO an...

The Simple Life

Life is complicated. That’s a fact. We may not have much control over it, but what we do have control over is how we respond to it. I Am Flawed

My name is Tonya Inez Lowe and I ain’t perfect.
-I’m a petite yet pudgy 44 year-old, who talks like a hick. I was raised on old family farmland and lived off of bread, biscuits, rice, and cake. I now know that these types of carbs are not so good for me, yet I’ve struggled with saying no to them.
-I have dressed in off brands and hand-me-downs most of my life, because that’s all we could afford. Even my Keds were knock-offs. Sure, I buy some brands now, but labels ain’t my thing. Unless we’re ...

Driftwood Dreams Excerpt
I reread the first chapter this morning in preparation for Driftwood Dreams release date, June 1st! I enjoyed it so much I thought I'd share an excerpt with you.
Question: Is it wrong that I enjoyed my own book? If it's wrong then I don't want to be right!
Hope you enjoy it too!

Standing in the midst of the ebb and flow of her daily chaos always gave Josie Slater the same feeling as standing in the surf—it was ever-changing yet she felt trapped in the same spot with her feet slowly sinking in th...

My Southern Storytelling Roots

Growing up in rural South Carolina during a time where there were more dirt roads than paved, my writing roots were cultivated in the fertile soil of southern storytelling. Weathered farmers, crazy great-uncles, and wise grannies were a few of the school masters. I earned my education from within the walls of a clapboard gas station heavily scented with the aroma of boiled peanuts, on a front porch lined with pink azalea bushes, amongst a tobacco field in the middle of summer, and during...
