Male or Female? Huh?!?!?!?! And a Happy Thanksgiving wish!

Male or Female?
Thanksgiving is by far my favorite holiday, but I'll get to that in a minute.
"They" say there's no stupid question...
You tell me:
I was in our local grocery store picking out the perfect turkey. In front of me were layers of turkeys that were shrink-wrapped, netted, weighed and priced. As I sifted through them, there was a couple to my left also looking for the perfect bird. They spoke a language I didn't understand. The man stopped, faced me, looked at the shrink-wrapped and netted bird he was holding and asked in slightly broken English...
ready...
"Do you know if it's male or female?"
Did I hear him right? Couldn't have. I said, "Excuse me?"
"You know if it's male or female?" He repeated.
Ok, I did hear him right. What the...? "I...I...I'm not sure," I answered through my stammering. "Do they taste different?" I asked.
He replied, "No, they taste same." And then turned away from me and went on looking for his turkey.
Now, I would normally, in a situation like this be looking for the cameras - "Jokes on you!" But, it wasn't like that, he really wanted to know.
Secondly, if you put a male and female turkey in front of me, that had all of their feathers, were strutting around and gobbling - I still couldn't tell you which was the male and female.
BUT, if they taste the same - What's the difference?

If I'm missing something - please let me know!!
Anyway, Thanksgiving is my favorite holiday. And I hate the fact that it's rushed through or even overlooked by the retail stores. We're in such a rush to find those "Black Friday" deals. It really is sad.We need to get back to basics and what's important!! Family, friends, food on the table, and the simple act of being together.

Some of the reasons why I love Thanksgiving:1. All of the delicious savory flavors wafting through he house.2. Taste testing and eating ALL day.3. Staying in my jammies until the afternoon.4. Watching the parade. But, mostly watching my 5 yr old watch it - she gets so excited. We tape it for      her, and then we're forced to watch it over and over and over, into July of the following year. Until I     "accidentally" erase it. I'm not mean - we just all have our limits.5. Not having to buy or wrap presents.6. The kids don't except anything, only a home cooked meal.7. Enjoying my family.8. Did I mention eating all day?
I hope everyone has a wonderful THANKSGIVING!!!!Enjoy that turkey - male or female!!!
If you are doing "Black Friday" - be careful!
