Evolution of a Cover

Friday was the official reveal of the cover for Resistance. It was something I’d been looking forward to for about the last two years. I’m the kind of person who starts putting a cover together very shortly after starting a book. It’s kind of motivation for me to see how it will look when it’s finished. Resistance was no different. I thought it would be fun to go through the transformation from original idea to finished cover.
It all started with this background image. I can’t remember exactly...

Resistance Cover Reveal + Giveaway

Today is a moment I’ve been anxiously awaiting for probably the last two years or so—the reveal of the cover for Resistance, the first book in my NA (New Adult) fantasy series, Ilyon Chronicles! Seriously, it really has been that long. I started putting the cover together very shortly after I started writing the book almost three years ago. I was always very excited about it, and now I can finally show everyone! Pageflex Persona [document: PRS0000040_00026] This is personally my favorite cover I’ve ever put together so far. Between the...

Finished Editing Resistance!

And no, this is not an April Fool’s Day joke. ;) Sunday afternoon I finished my final read-through of Resistance, and yesterday I send it to my editor, Amber Stokes, for the final proofread. This means the intense editing stage I’ve been going through for close to a year is finally over. It has been crazy. The last week was insane. I felt like I’d been through a war by the end of it. My mom too. We were both reading through it simultaneously with my deadline looming. We managed, but it was br...

Dreaming of Spring Jewelry Giveaway

Spring sure seems to be taking its time to get here, doesn’t it? I’m beginning to feel like we’re in Narnia. So I thought I’d host another fun jewelry giveaway while we dream of and wait for spring to finally arrive. The giveaway runs from today until March 20th, the first day of spring. Hopefully by that time we’ll actually see hints of spring. Two winners will be chosen at random to receive their choice of one of my handmade jewelry designs. This includes anything in my Etsy shop EXCEPT for...

Valentine’s Surprises

Happy Valentine’s Day! I know it’s been a while since I updated this blog. I have WAY too much going on lately. But I do have a couple little Valentine’s surprises to share. One thing, and this is pretty big for fans of my Makilien Trilogy (which I published under my original pen name, Molly Evangeline). Today I published a cute romantic short story that takes place several years after the trilogy and follows one of my favorite of the trilogy’s characters. It’s the perfect Valentine’s Day rea...

"New Adult" Fiction

Recently I posted on Facebook about my frustration with the young adult category for books. There's such a varying opinion on just what age range this is. I've always considered it 15-25 year olds. On another blog, I saw it classified as 12-17. YA and Teen seem to be used interchangeably. That presents a problem for me. Since I started writing Ilyon Chronicles, I've been calling it a YA series, but I consider it upper YA. I don’t want anyone to come along randomly and think it’s just another...

Announcing Jaye L. Knight Etsy Shop

The time has finally come to announce the opening of my new Etsy shop! I have always been interested in making jewelry, but I never pursued it until I recently had the idea to make and sell jewelry inspired by my books. So, for the last couple of months, I've been gathering supplies and creating designs to capture the essence of different characters or books. You can see a few of these designs below. Or click here to visit my shop and see them all.
I've only just begun in this new endeavor, an...
