Don't you just love Bette?
'Now I'm old I can say anything I damn well please.' - Bette Midler.
Not that I think Bette ever held back in her youth either, but she's right - One of the joys of gaining a few years is the freedom to speak your mind.
My mother has proclaimed to the world that she has entered the next phase - 'The Grumpy Old Lady' phase. She's not really grumpy, but when the need arises, she is happy to claim the rights of TGOL and say, 'No, I'm looking after ME today!'
Cheers for the loss of always being politically correct and an extra cheer for being selfish (Note to most women:- after a lifetime of being Selfless....'Selfish' is not a dirty word).

I found someone else to give me a kick in the pants.
Calling All Writers:
Today I stumbled on a blog by Jeff Goins (100k+ fan base). Most blogs I'll read once then put aside, but he struck a chord... and I think he struck a chord because he was saying the same thing as another Geoff I know and who's blog I ALWAYS read - Geoff Shaw.
Tho' Geoff Shaw's 'Kindling' covers everything we need to know about e-Book writing, production and marketing etc.. Geoff is also one of the best people I know to give you a good kick in the pants when you need it...
and his basic message has always been: JUST WRITE!...
This is where these two GeoJeff's are the same, so I've subscribed to the second Jeff's blog too because I need to keep hearing the message and I need to keep getting that kick in the pants.
So if you need a nudge now and then, read below and it might spark you to write a bit more.. it did me.
Signed:
~WGP (World's Greatest Procrastinator)
PS: If you want to take a look at the other Geoff's Kindle training (he's my Guru :)) have a look here and I'll lead you by the hand.
Oh boy, how confusing. I think I have too many GeoJeff's in my life!

Elli's International Days
Hi All,
I have collected so many great pictures in my internet trolling ... but I never seem to have enough time to share them all, so in the next week, I'm creating 'Elli's International Days' with a theme for each group of pictures.
Today's offering is "Cute and Adorables Day"... mainly kids but I've also put in everyone's favourite tiny horse, Dumbledore.
Depending on how I'm feeling, I might have a "Cranky Old Girls Day" or a "Let me Inspire You Day" or a "I'm Feelin' Silly Day", ... but continuing with the previous Flower Theme of removing negative images from our Facebook page, you won't see anything miserable or whiny on this page, baby!
Go to www.booksbyellibuchanan.com to see the most adorable munchkins.
Happy Hipster Friday to you all!

Music lifts you Up, Up and Away
Music pulls you through every emotion, doesn't it? It can lift you up, make you cry, make you wanna dance around the room or just make you want to sit quietly and let it wash all over you.
What I can’t do with music playing, is write. I know some authors have favorite playlists that play while they pound away at the keyboard, but I just can’t do it. There has to be complete silence, so that I can disappear into my story and leave the outside world behind.
But like most people I have to have a music ‘fix’ when I emerge from my land of fantasy. That’s why I’m super excited to be going to a Ten Tenors performance tonight in Brisbane. They are constantly travelling the world and it’s great to have them home. I've followed them since they started in the mid 1990’s. The line-up may have changed but the melody goes on.
Do yourself a favor – Right NOW – and put aside the keyboard, close your eyes and just listen for a few minutes. You’ll be glad you did.
*NOTE* I'd don't think I can add a Utube link to this blog, so you'll have to go to my webpage to see it. http://www.booksbyellibuchanan.com/blog.
If there IS a way for me to upload a video her, I'd love it if someone would show me how! :)

Nature - It's Where the Human Animal is Meant to be!
The view from my window is mesmerizing. Dawn is breaking and the light is coming; the street lights are still on and the birds are waking up. I know this is nothing new for a lot of people, but for me it’s a rare thing. I’m a night owl, not a morning person; however even I have to admit that it’s a beautiful time of day.
I had a Flower Reading recently (but that’s another story) from a man with extraordinary insight. He picked that I was a writer along with several other things that were spookily accurate. So accurate in fact, that when he said ‘I hope you don’t write inside four walls every day, because that just won’t work for you.’
Well actually yes, I do.... and if it’s too bright a day I pull down the blind. I’m like a hermit in my hole. It’s no wonder I’d had a block for over a week. Just couldn't get back into my story and didn't know where to go with it. So I followed his advice and got out into nature; it was glorious and I’d been missing it all. I walked to the river not five minutes from where I live, took off my shoes and buried my toes in the sand. I’m also near the ocean so the sand is white and clean. I’m a lucky girl. I live in a beautiful part of the world where I can go where I want and do what I want. My walk to the river made me think of others who don’t have that freedom and I was so grateful that I do.
So I've continued my daily pause in nature because after that first day, I went home and the words poured out.... and it’s worked that way ever since. I’m in a writing waterfall and it’s fantastic!
I thought I’d share this insight with you, in case you need some grounding. Get out into nature. It’s where the human animal is meant to be.
