New Audiobook Versions of Three of My Books
I had one of my prior book of short stories (Mindscapes) turned into a professionally produced audiobook more than a decade ago in part because I’ve grown to love and depend on audiobooks given my long commutes and listen to more books than I read these days. But, because I don’t pay for advertisement or reviews, and therefore get very modest sales for my self-published books, the prospect of paying for or splitting royalties with a production company is unattractive. So I was intrigued by the p...

New revision and audiobook version of my novel now available
I’ve been working on revising some of my short fiction and my first novel over the past two weeks, as well as publishing a Spanish version of my novel and some of my short fiction. Anyone who purchased the original editions will have access to the revised versions uploaded that clean up some of the minor issues I missed on my original final versions.
Anyone interested in previewing an excerpt from the novel in the original English version or in my own Spanish translations can do so from Amazo...

On Inanity, Insanity, and a Duct-Taped Banana as Art
In the news again: A banana taped to the wall selling for an obscene amount of money as “art”. It is a perfect metaphor for not only the complete and total bankruptcy of the art world today, but also of society’s communal mental breakdown. I for one have had enough of it.
We have lost out way as people. We lionize the mediocre and outright incompetent in the name of diversity. We welcome murderers, rapists, criminal gangs, and people with communicable diseases once thought eradicated to viola...

Veteran’s Day Message
I hope you will join me in taking a moment this Veteran’s Day to reflect on the sacrifice of the men and women who have served our country faithfully and with honor in both times of peace and war. They put themselves between us and evil in some of the most dangerous places on earth to protect the freedom we too often take for granted. They served their country–our country–in wars many of us may now call wise or unwise with the benefit of hindsight having absorbed the lessons history has taught u...

Unsung Heroes VII: Manuel Zapata (father-in-law)
You were brought to the U.S. at eight years of age,
By hard-working parents seeking a better life,
Especially for you and your sister, Carmen,
Than was available in your native Galicia of the time.
Both of your parents, Carmen and Manuel, had strong work ethics,
That allowed them to pull themselves up by their bootstraps,
Through hard, honest work in very hard times,
Guided by a strong moral compass they passed on to their two children.
You and your parents lived for many years in Downtown Manha...

On Crime (11 linked haikus)
Fiction comes alive,
Dystopian visions thrive,
In Cities world wide.
A Clockwork Orange,
Lord or the Flies, Brave New World,
Nineteen Eighty Four.
Animal Farm and,
Fahrenheit Four Fifty One,
All have come to pass.
And they will perdure,
If we defend what’s clearly,
Indefensible.
Feed a hungry beast,
It will grow and it will thrive,
And eat you alive.
Likewise criminals,
Who thrive when no consequences,
Attach to their crimes.
When crimes are excused,
And criminals deemed victims,
What should...
