288 - A Scholarly Conversation

What kind of politician EVER enters a library? Without formally unlocking its doors for the first time with a crowd of Pages Reporters to write it up?I'd dropped to my knees which helped hide my shock and looked down at the papers and books, scrambling them together. I desperately want to fling myself on my face, grab his feet and confess. Ask forgiveness. I want to vomit. I want to pass out.

287 - Inattention

The Hirina library, like all Yeoli libraries, had been hidden away from our invading Rejins, since one of the first things we did when we conquered was pull all information that would let us control the indigenes and burn the rest to begin eradicating the culture. As it was, the standard Arkan texts were added in when the restoration happened and with the Great Press's technology being opened

Update!

I just got home! And it wasn't just one tire but two on the same side. The lovely CAA mechanic had to tow me home... to where I have my parts car on a different set of tires. It began to rain. Of course. It turns out that this fellow has been training for a week and I was his first official, paid-for, call.I'll see what I can do about posting tonight but I may just fall into bed.Thank you,

286 - The Library Tour

We found a lovely room in a tower hotel half-way up the city's bluff, looking across the wide river with the ferries going back and forth to the Benai Saekrberk. In Brahvniki, so heavily influenced by the old Zak Empire, all the tower rooms were seen as less expensive and cheaper, rented mostly by foreigners. The walls along the harbour were high grey stone, the remnants of the old Empire and

285 - Gods and Tapestry and Words

The odd, onion-shaped domes of Brahvniki are really pretty in the morning mist. We're tied up on the opposite shore and the swarms of little boats that sell or buy anything that might fit in such a little floating barge, that beleaguer the incoming ships, are all out-harbour, beyond the tax-line. Initaeran told me I was doing really well. She said that I was going to heal faster than Minis

284 - We Dreamed We Were on Haiu Menshir

Joras looked down at the nakiti in his glass, hating it, raised it and drank a health slug and expansively sighed and wiped his lips as though it were ambrosia. It was entirely part of his pretense. Any Arkan workman who had a free afternoon would drink it. Alcohol was anathema. He forced himself to drink it and had to pretend to let it take him as if he'd been drinking it neat instead of
