612 - Correspondence

Dear Minis:

We made it home timely enough.  Yes, the sky is more
chaotic in the changing seasons, but the more experience you get, the easier it
is to deal with.

See the enclosed Official Reply which you thoughtfully
provided, filled out by myself on behalf of your invitees.  [It was an
official invitation to the whole family basically and they were all going to be
attending, and would

611 - That's a Relief

Antras was just smiling at me now as he'd poured more wine and withdrawn.  I'd asked him to
arrange dinners with Ky and Gannara and Fara many times in the past few moons, but this night it was just
Kyriala because Gannara was so busy with his own wedding preparations for
Farasha.  He was going so far as to
hand-build most of a wedding caravan… though I kept sending him carpenters and

610 - I've Drooled on the Top Letter

I picked up my pen to finish signing the latest stack of
invitations and letters. It was late enough that Doof sat on the rail of my
pen-rack with his head tucked between his hunched wings, fluffed almost into a
ball.  He rocked gently back and forth as
he breathed.

Eltras lay on my desk, his chin on the forearm of my writing
hand, his purr made me take good care of my signing and he'd

609 - I Had So Much Planning to Do!

Dear
Chevenga,I hope you made it
home in a timely fashion after your last visit.  I noticed the couriers
were reporting nasty, non-flying weather around the time you left.  It
seems to me that the high winds are very closely linked to the sailing
winds and that in the fall and winter things get very wild.I
am enclosing the OFFICIAL-- I put all the curliques and flourished on
the word that

609 - That Mahid Hype

I'm one of the best. Of the best. Commander Firnean chose me – among other elite solas of course – to guard the Coronet Regal, so I must be among the best. The only higher step I could make would be to guard He Whose Will is Voted Onto the Crystal Throne by Arko. What a mouthful that is, even in my thoughts.

The Coronet and his best friend and the other children are in a very private

608 - What Do You Eat? Cadavers?

The bureaucrat's eyes had
flickered over me, as he beat his retreat and I thought I saw him
blanche even further. Somehow that decided me that I didn't just want
to listen. After all, he was my former
under-minister of roads.  I eased around the door and took in the
scene.

Eosenas was at the
side of his desk, lying on his face before Chevenga, who was regarding
him with the

607 - In the Fires of His Gaze

The offices of the
Imperial road services were in the second above street level,
Imiriaenium Halls, of the bureaucratic side of the Marble Palace.
Kallijas was above in the Highest Office.  He had no interest in
tormenting the man but handed his fate over to Chevenga, after hearing
the story.  I was prurient enough, and angry enough that I wanted to at
least hear.  I'd met Komona Shae

606 - What Has He Done?

The morning pigeon messages were
still on Kallijas's desk when the second batch was brought in by his
welcomist, along with the flying couriers' packets from the Western Empire. We'd been working on a tricky
situation between two districts along the North-West coast.  Kall knew that area because he'd been
stationed there.  It was a contradictory
law of inheritance that the Quadrians had
