Trapped between warlords
The choice is simple:
Capitulation…or defiance!
From the Solar System itself, Imperator James Calvin Walkingstick prepares the remaining fleets of the Commonwealth for a desperate and brutal campaign to retake their borders and unify humanity one more.
On the other side of the Commonwealth’s seceding star systems, Dictator Kaleb Periklos gathers his fleets to avenge their humiliation. To the mercenary Admirals of the Stellar League, it doesn’t matter whether the worlds they conquer still kneel to Terra.
Caught in-between these two would-be conquerors are Admiral James Tecumseh and the newborn Dakotan Confederacy. Now guardian to a nation, Tecumseh faces enemies on all sides. He’s left with only one answer true to his and his new nation’s principles.
Fight.

The Sector’s only hope of withstanding a genocidal faction of the Kenmiri is the Twelfth Fleet of the United Planets Alliance. But when Wong’s scouting flotilla collides with the Kenmiri, he discovers they now have a weapon that could easily destroy Twelfth Fleet.
Wong and Todorovich are stranded on the wrong side of a world the Remnant have burned, and they only have one way to meet their allies before it’s too late.
If Henry Wong is to save his people and his allies, he must take his ship on a deadly run into the hostile star systems of the Kenmiri Remnant: the very species he doomed to a slow death.

Nine Sailed Star Update from Glynn
A message from the author:
The last couple of weeks have been a blur: finishing a book, launching a Kickstarter, visiting museum ships with British history Youtubers, copyediting another book… This week, I’m sitting down to start writing another book: a Castle Federation Universe novel that is going to come out in October – more details to come.
I never want to send too many emails to you all, but I did want to send a big thank you for supporting me through the Kickstarter. My team sent out an email to this mailing list on June 1. Within two days of June 1, we had fully funded a print hardcover. everything we needed to print our hardcover books for my new space fantasy novel.
The campaign is trucking along and we’ve unlocked a few digital stretch goals, including some Starship’s Mage art. If everything goes really, really well, we might be able to unlock interior illustrations. I’d also love to be able to do a full offset run of the books. If you’d like to lend your support, I’d very much appreciate it if you would share the campaign on social media.
I have also been convinced to sign a limited number of hardcover copies for the Kickstarter. I don’t usually sign books because of shipping costs and the time it takes to package them, but a lot of people asked really nicely. We’re calling the signed edition the “Admiral” tier, and as I write this, there are 21 copies left.
Another cool thing that happened: my partner posted a picture of me with the books on Reddit and it went viral. Thank you to all my readers: your support made that big stack of books possible!
Sincerely,
Glynn
P.S. I’m supposed to tell you that you’ll get a pre-order link for Discretion (Book 2 of Scattered Stars: Evasion) at the end of June.

The Starfighters of Scattered Stars and Castle Federation
What does the world of the Castle Federation and Scattered Stars have in common? Starfighters and exciting ship combat!
While both series have ship combat and fully-realized universes with exciting tales, Glynn’s two fighter-jets-in-space series have a few key differences, mainly when it comes to the ships themselves.
Falcon Starfighter – 7th Generation“He’d spent his trip babying six entire squadrons – forty-eight ships – of brand new, barely out of prototype, Falcon-type starfighters. The new ships strapped mass manipulators and engines rated for five hundred gravities to four three-shot launchers firing short-range missiles with gigaton antimatter warheads and a positron lance rated for fifty kilotons per second.”
The Falcon starfighter is the ship that Kyle Roberts flies at the beginning of Castle Federation. These are quite large ships, with amenities for longer flights and with a crew of three. Fighter pilots connect directly to the ships through a neural interface – an interface that only a select few can handle.
“For the first time in months, Michelle took her seat at the center of the small cockpit of a starfighter. Behind her, Deveraux sat on her right and Garnet was on her left. All three of the seats were recliners, easily set to whatever was most comfortable – once jacked into the neural interface, you weren’t very aware of your body. While the starfighter had a small bunkroom and kitchenette for long flights, combat could require as many as five or six hours jacked in – and completely unmoving.”
Falcon Starfighter Stats:
Matter-antimatter reaction thrustersSmooth hull, 30m longThree person crewSingle main gun and 4 missile launchersHoplite IV – Scattered Stars
The Hoplite-IV was a deadly-looking wedge of metal with edges that were only smooth at close range. It averaged three meters thick across its length, tapering from an only barely flattened tip to a ten-meter-wide base fifteen meters back.
The access hatch to the fighter itself was covered by the storage matrix, but Kira still laid her hands on the familiar white metal.
In contrast to the Falcon, the nova fighters in the world of Scattered Stars are much smaller and not designed for long haul flights. They utilize FTL nova jumps for dynamic and exciting ship combat, but require a carrier for longer distances. In that way, they are more akin to modern fighter jets – but in space.
Reactionless engineMultiple hatches on exterior, 10m longSingle torpedo mountings, guns along the wingTwo person crewFans of either series would find much to enjoy in the other. Castle Federation is a complete six-book arc with a new arc, the Dakotan Confederacy, launched with Admiral’s Oath in January of 2022.
Scattered Stars: Conviction follows the adventures of Kira Demirici and her exiled crew of nova pilots who carve out their niche in the far reaches of the known human universe. The series starts with Conviction.
Castle Federation’s original six-book series follows Kyle Roberts, the Stellar Fox. Kyle Roberts didn’t expect that a job on the decommissioned Avalon would result in both the end of peacetime and his career as a starfighter. Now he has a new position in the Navy, impossible expectations to live up to, and finds himself on the losing side of a war.
The new series, the Dakotan Confederacy, picks up with Admiral James Tecumseh – a man on the other side of the line from Kyle Roberts, but with as much honor as his enemy.
