Arclight and Kiem were great, why didn't they maybe continue in island? What happened to their creators?

Thanks– both of those series are going to continue as issues and then be collected.

Marian is finishing up Arclight #3 this week– and I should email Xurxo and see where he’s at today.

Are the hardcover Prophet volumes still planned? And if so, will they include the backup stories not included in the trades? As always, much thanks for the excellent work. I mean, seriously, there is no book in the last decade better than Prophet.

Thanks so much for the nice words. and yeah, I think that is still the plan. We were talking about going through the whole series and seeing if the final trade collection would need anything added to it– like more info pages on side characters or whatnot.

The only back up stories in the final trades will be Emma’s and the recent one by Aaron Conley and Shannon Lentz. Mostly just because they’re the only ones that are cannon Prophet stories. I feel like it would just be confusing to have a lot of the 5 pagers that are their own thing in the Prophet trades– plus those are all owned by the creators that made them.

I could see some far future collection of just the 5 pagers if stuff like ISLAND really gets a foot hold.

Do you have any worries or opinions about the fetishization of gay and lesbian relationships? There's been lots of talk of the objectification of gay people

hmmm I guess with more representation of gay characters there’s going to be people who do it poorly.

I saw a talk recently at the Olympia comics festival by E.T. Russian (her site is here)  (and here) Where she talked about how cool as her as someone with no legs to see examples of characters missing limbs in comics.

Some of the books she talked about were comics that I just thought of as bad comics.. So it really got me thinking about how a reader can pull things from work that is more important to them than may even be in the work initially. (or how I was blinded to how someone else might take in a book by my own comics snobbery)

Also, also I think one of the things that leads to more quality work about gay characters or really any type of characters in to get more work by different types of creators with different lived experiences in the comics conversation.

Genetic diversity in our comic book eco-system to adapt to changing environments.

Hi, I'm a super fan of Marian and just noticed she deleted her tumblr pages to my great dismay. Anyway, pretty pumped for the FUM trade later this year, but what's up with Arclight? Is it still a thing?

Yeah, she’s just finishing up Arclight #3 now we’re gonna solicit it & the last issue next month right after she does some new covers.
