Parenting Expert On What To Do If Your Child Wants To Quit An After-School Activity - ExclusiveHas your child ever wanted to quit an after-school activity? Mine certainly have!So how do you know what to do if your child initially commits but then wants to quit shortly thereafter? The answer is actually very dependent on the individualcircumstances!
I spoke with @TheListDaily on how to navigate this situation.
Parenting expert, mom, and CEO of Parenting Evolution Cathy Domoney knows a thing or two about kids wanting to quit an extracurricular activity. After all, she's been there with her own brood and learned that the decision to stick with something or move on can be highly individual.
So how do you know what to do if your child commits to an after-school club or team and then comes to you wanting to basically never go back to the activity they just had to try perhaps only a few weeks or months ago? As Domoney told The List, the answer is...

Unlock The Key To Your Family’s Genius w/
Co-Founder of Parenting Evolution.
I was honored to be interviewed and featured by @jbuckleyyy at Women.com. The article dives deep into my story, the intention behind Parenting Evolution, and my life’s work to inspire, motivate and encourage parents in their journeys.
Before becoming the Co-Founder and Co-Director of Parenting Evolution, can you please share some insight into your family and being the mother of 5?Our family is a mixed bag of the best kind of crazy, heart-centered fun, the perfect amount of quirky, anchored in loving humor. My husband works away so is only home for 12 weeks of the year, so I am severely outnumbered! The kids and I are a great team. We have a fantastic relationship, we do not always see eye-to-eye, but we love each other fiercely and take the time to work through issues and have the uncomfortable conversations needed for us to move forward together as strong individuals and a strong collective. We are very loving and giving, but we are not pushovers! We will fiercely defend ourselves and each other when needed. My husband and I have created the family that I always wanted, but never had. My husband is a big kid at heart which makes for a fun home life. Recently, he and my eldest son came up and asked if they could have a star-wars movie-marathon day. (I oversee the schedule and so they needed to know their availability!) I suggested a day that would work perfectly for them on my husband’s seven-day R&R and my husband asked, ‘Can we have treats?’ To which I replied amused, ‘You’re 47 years old, Ian! If you guys want treats, then go and get them!’ We are perfectly imperfect, and I feel so lucky and blessed to have these incredible souls in my experience.

What Does It Mean To Be Family Oriented? Up Journey

What Does It Mean To Be Family Oriented?
I had the recent privilege of exploring what it means to be family oriented in an article penned by the editors at Up Journey.
In my opinion, “the responsibilities of parents today are much more numerous and complex. We are charged with balancing our own well-being with the well-being of our children.”
Interested in learning more about how the definition of “being family oriented” has evolved over time?
Just 40 years ago, being “family-oriented” meant something vastly different from what it means today. Back then, if you provided for your family both domestically and financially to the best of your ability, you were golden. That’s all it took to make you a superstar parent and spouse.
Can you imagine ticking those two boxes and considering yourself a paragon of parenting? I certainly can’t.

Does growing up with strict parents damage kids? Experts weigh in... New Folk

Although Domoney and Porter discuss the positive aspects of appropriately strict parenting, they also touch on the detrimental effects that come about when the scales aren’t balanced equally between giving too much freedom and giving too little.
As Domoney observes, a child growing up with strict parents who go overboard with the rules can suffer in the long run since they don’t have the tools to make individual decisions...

How to spot the victim of child abuse and bullying, According to Experts
As adults, we are responsible for the children in our midst.
But…we can’t always be there to protect them from hurt or pain. In the case of child abuse and bullying, the signs may not always be obvious and victims may hide these incidents from others due to guilt and shame.
I sat down with @morninglazziness and reviewed the signs of child abuse and bullying and would invite you to take a look at what I’ve outlined here as we all aim to protect the vulnerable and defenseless children around us.
Signs of child abuse1. Sudden change in behavior:
“Sometimes children may hide these things because of guilt, shame, or fear. It’s very important to have a real connection and know the child well because the signs of abuse and bullying can be very subtle and hard to detect. If you know the child well, you can easily detect any change in their behavior or demeanor. Sometimes it would present as children who are generally quiet being more aggressive and assertive suddenly or sometimes an outgoing child may suddenly become withdrawn,” Cathy Domoney, a world-renowned Parenting Expert, Author, Mentor, and CEO of Parenting Evolution said...
