A cartoon drawing showing a conversation between two writers. The first writer asks "Max help! How do you outline a novel for length?"To which Max replies "Easy! 1. Decide on the average chapter length! Consistent chapter length makes for more consistent pacing."ALT"Time for math!" the next speech bubble reads. "2. Consider your book goal, then divide that by the chapter length. That gives you a chapter goal! Example, want to write a 50,000 word novel with a 3,000 word chapter length? That's about 17 chapters!"ALT"Almost there!" the next speech bubble says. "3. Now that you know how many chapters you have, consider the flow of your story. How would you tell this story with only that many chapters?"ALT"Last step!" the speech bubble says. "4. With the flow of your story in mind, start dropping events into the timeline! Index cards are great for this. Fill the blanks in the story or get writing!"The final text in the image reads "That's it! You did it!"ALT

“idk just mess up with the colors until it looks right”

Making art sometimes feels like falling down a rabbit hole. One moment you’re doing some sketching then next thing the lineart is done and you’ve promised yourself you won’t do colors but whoops it’s hours later and what the hell why is my body hurting so much this is so unfair

For everyone getting ready to attempt NaNoWriMo in a few weeks, here’s a friendly reminder:

Nobody will see your first draft unless you choose to show it to them. You have the time to make mistakes, mess up, and fix things later. Enjoy and cherish this wonderful solitude 🏕

I’m posting art of my characters until the release of my next fantasy book, The Last Bread Mage !

Let’s start off with… something cute 💖

Fel (he/him) is the protagonist of the book. He was raised at The Academy, where he grew to love reading old tomes and chatting with the school’s librarian. 📚🍞
