It’s time to RELAX… if you can remember what that word means.

Stressed out? With the way things are today, I guess I really don’t need to ask that question.  However, there are some ways to help calm yourself down enough to get the things you need to get done… done.

The first step to relaxing is to avoid things that are stressing you out. These could be anything from a person, to a situation, or even a psychological thriller that’s making you sweat.

The next step is to find ways of releasing your stress. Meditation, massage, and exercise are all great ways of doing this.

3 ways millions of people  give themselves some “me” time:

1. Breathe in deeply for five seconds, then breathe out for five seconds. Repeat this process for a few minutes and feel the tension leaving your body.

2.  Stretch your muscles by doing a series of simple yoga poses or stretches (easy to find on Google).

3. Take a hot bath with Epsom salts and lavender oil to help you relax and relieve muscle tension, or use aromatherapy to soothe your senses with lavender, eucalyptus, or chamomile oils.

I’m not saying I’m a pro at this…

What I can say for sure is: one thing that helps calm me down is loving on Nikki (see below). Petting one’s fur baby has proven to lower blood pressure and heart rate. I’m thinking about gluing her to my side so I always have her there to calm me down.

Yes… I’m looking for stalkers.

I was yelled at today.

My Social Media Director told me it was time to start posting on Twitter, Instagram and Facebook or she’d quit.

“You need followers!” she said. “If you want to get your books out there, you need to get YOURSELF out there. You need to promote yourself on Facebook, Instagram and Twitter!”

Those of you who know me, know I’m a writer, not a self-promoter… but the time has come. Thousands of people are already enjoying my books, but it’s time to get thousands more.

So if you’d like to follow me, be a part of my upcoming book release and maybe even have a character named after you, just click any of these links: Facebook, Instagram and Twitter.

As always, thank you for reading and I hope to see you stalking me online – not in person, please 🙂 – so we can turn my thousands of readers into millions!!

The 10 Benefits of Reading Fiction… for your mental, emotional and physical health

Reading is an activity that can be done anywhere. It’s a great way to escape from the world, and it can even be a form of meditation. (#3 is MY favorite!)

Reading fiction is especially beneficial because it stimulates your imagination, which in turn stimulates brain function in different areas of the brain…

1.  It improves emotional intelligence

2. It sharpens mental focus

3. It reduces stress

4. It enhances empathy

5. It improves creativity

6. It boosts memory

7. It slows cognitive decline

8. It lowers blood pressure

9. It increases overall life satisfaction and well-being

10. Reading fiction can help us live longer

There was a study that found that reading a novel can reduce stress levels and increase emotional intelligence in adults.

It also found that readers who identify with the characters of the novel will feel less stress about their own lives and more empathy for others.

So keep reading the books you enjoy. It could help you live a healthier, happier life!

The Importance of Keeping Humor… especially during hard times.

One of the best ways to keep a sense of humor during difficult times is to laugh. And it’s not just a good idea, it’s a necessity.

Laughter is beneficial for your health, and can help you get through tough times. It can even make you more productive.

Now remember, you don’t have to be in a comedy club to laugh. You can always find things that are funny in your life and the world around you – even if they’re not what you would consider “traditional” sources of humor.

One of the funniest books I’ve ever read is Davis Sedaris’s “Me Talk Pretty One Day (https://www.amazon.com/Me-Talk-Pretty...) “. Since I’m an author, I’m not a fan of promoting other writers’ work, but that just shows how strongly I feel about helping the world (and you) see how important humor is. Of course, humor – like reading – is subjective… which means what I think is funny might not be as funny to you. Just sayin’ in case you read his book and don’t smile. 🙂

Humor is also a very powerful tool that can be used to break the ice, reduce stress, and build relationships. It can also be used to help people through difficult times – so you’re not only helping yourself, you can help others, too!

One of the most important things to remember about humor is: It helps us deal with the pressures of the world and brings joy to our lives. It’s important to maintain a sense of humor in order to be healthy mentally and physically.

NOW IF YOU’RE NOT IN THE MOOD TO LAUGH and just want to read some good, suspense-thrillers, my books are always there for you (http://www.authorrobkaufman.com). As for me, I’m pretty much around all the time too – laughing (typically, at myself).

Keep smiling and when it shows up, please enjoy life’s humor.

Why You Enjoy Suspense… and the rush that comes with it.

Psychological thrillers are one of the most popular genres in literature. The genre is known for its fast-paced plots, intense storylines, and heart-racing endings.

Psychological thrillers are known to be intense because they focus on the mental state of characters instead of their physical state.

The protagonist is typically a victim of some kind of mental or physical abuse and becomes involved in an increasingly tense and frightening situation. What makes these novels so addictive is that the reader becomes invested in the protagonist’s personal struggle and the suspenseful events surrounding the main character often make it difficult for readers to put down the book (or turn off their television screens).

Why are suspenseful books so popular?

The popularity of psychological thrillers can be attributed to two major factors. First, it is easier for authors to connect with their readers by using common fears and anxieties as a starting point for their stories. Second, people are drawn to these types of books because they offer an escape from the real-life problems that many people face today.

So why do people like to be scared?

The suspense genre is full of twists and turns, with unexpected endings. This is what people like about it. It’s the same feeling that people get when they are scared – their heart rate increases, they can’t stop thinking about it, and they just want to know what will happen next.

Some people like to be scared. It’s a fact that many of us enjoy suspense and mystery, which is why we watch horror movies, read mystery novels and play video games. Many people like the thrill of not knowing what will happen next in a story.

They like to be scared because it’s an adrenaline rush and it’s exciting. And who doesn’t like those feelings? PLUS, these books and movies allow us to solidify the fact the we are physically safe. We derive pleasure from the suspense as long as we believe we are physically distant from what we’re reading (or watching).

Are you on Facebook and would like to be talk with other Psych Thriller lovers?

There are so many “hardcore” psychological thriller readers out there who like to discuss, share and talk about the books they’ve read. If you’re one of them, you’ve GOT to visit THE PSYCHOLOGICAL THRILLERS BOOK CLUB on Facebook where you can find new (and old) pscyh thriller recommendations from people who like the same kind of suspense that you do!

Meet Nikki

Did you enjoy meeting Nikki? If you have a story of your own pup (or any pet) that you’d like to share, please do. This post is about bringing readers, and their pets, together – knowing that when we’re reading (or writing) and they’re sitting on our laps or by our sides, there are thousands of others doing the same thing.

So… What Did You Think?

Well, I’ve taken the plunge and offered my ARC (Advanced Reader Copy) of “A Broken Reality” to a number of outlets before its release… NetGalley, GoodReads, Review Groups, etc.

The reason? An ARC allows authors to get a reader’s reaction to the book before it goes public and also allows readers to offer suggestions, thoughts, and recommendations to the author.

And this blog is one of the perfect places to do it!

So please — positive, negative or indifferent, I’d love to hear what you have to say about “A Broken Reality”.

Try not to include any “spoilers” in your post (content that could give away important facts about the plot, etc.) – I might have to delete them.

However, if you have any questions about the book: the plot, the characters or anything else relating to “A Broken Reality”, just send me an email: Rob@AuthorRobKaufman.com.

I look VERY forward to hearing what you think!

Thanks for reading.

Rob
