Day 44 - Performance Of the Stars
Welcome my wonderful readers!
I hope you all had a great Xmas!
My autobiography, Power of the Pen, will be coming out in February. It's a chronicle of my diverse life so far, and among the experiences is a story of an 18-year-old kid who fell in love with a woman nearly twice his age and used the power of his pen to have her see him in a more alluring light.
You have to read the book to find out the details of this little romantic tale, but I'll go ahead and share with you now one of the poems I wrote her way back then.
Performance Of The Stars
As day turns to night
I look towards the sky,
and as the stars start their show I think of you.
Some flicker in the darkness
while others stand brightly still.
Occasionally there's a falling one,
and that's when I wish my dreams would come true...
That you were here in my arms attending The Performance Of the Stars.
See you tomorrow:)
P.S. If you haven't checked out The Mirrored Staircase campaign yet, have a look! You might like the limited pieces of art work from the graphic novellas, signed by both me and the illustrator:)

Day 42 - Little Muses
Welcome my wonderful readers!
For those of you who have read my literary works, you know that I don't shy away from the intimate parts of my characters lives. These sensual encounters are just as important as all other aspects of their journeys.
Some readers ask me where do I find my inspiration, and the answer could be found in an array of muses. A song... A film... A photo... A person I crossed paths with... Even my own love story:)
I sometimes find inspiration in my hobby as well. There's nothing more beautiful than the female form, and my collection celebrates such with some beauties I like to call my little muses...

Day 40 - Genre
Welcome my wonderful readers!
Today I thought we'd discuss the 'G' word. A title that was created to categorize, to separate. I don't see GENRE as a bad word, but it is a word that many readers have used to narrow, to limit, to border their perspective.
Just by the mere mention of a specific genre certain readers will turn and run. 'Horror? I'm not into blood and guts. Erotica? Not my thing.' And yet some of the best well-written stories are in such 'genres'.
Sure you'll have a bunch of books that seem as if they all came off the same assembly line, and it is for this reason, I believe, people cling to their preferred genres. But as a result they're losing out on a lot of great stories out there.
By no means am I perfect, as I sometimes get caught up in the genre effect as well. Romance in particular, because of the fact that there are so many cliche stories out there that seem they were all used by the same cookie-cutter, I find it hard to give the 'genre' of romance my time, and yet all of the books I have written so far have elements of romance. I love a great love story, but when you don't have other elements involved to balance things out there's something wrong.
What we must all remind ourselves is that it's not about genre, it's about story.
Can you imagine someone who hates horror not picking up The Shawshank Redemption or The Green Mile, both amazing stories of the human condition, just because it was written by a horror writer? What a shame that they would be missing out on something they might actually fall in love with!
Genre can help, but it can also hinder. Story on the other hand, despite its classification, can be a remarkable thing!

Day 39 - A Dark Inkless Future
Welcome my wonderful readers!
You don't have to be a futurist to know that the act of writing with ink will someday be a thing of the past. Look around... The predictions of great sci-fi writers like Bradbury are already coming true, and by the time this current life of mine runs out I'm sure I'll be leaving a world that will look at pens as nothing more than a primitive writing tool.
But I'm a literary warrior, and refuse to conform! Writing with pen and paper allows me to FEEL the story as I'm telling it, and as long as my vision holds up I'll probably die with a pen in my hand! Great way to go out if you ask me!
See you tomorrow:)

Day 38 - ESL, With A Side Of Passion
Welcome my wonderful readers!
I've been living in a Southeast Asian country for quite a number of years now, but it's only been this past year that I've added English Tutor to my resume.
For a couple of hours a day I go to a mansion once owned by one of the Vice Presidents of the Philippines, now converted into an English academy, where I tutor South Korean students in English as a Second Language. It has been through this experience that I've learned an interesting lesson about teaching. No matter how much you wish students would absorb all you have to share with them, they're teens, and therefore have other priorities in their lives. But this doesn't stop me from trying my best to try and add some passion to their curriculum.
In Asia, too much emphasis is put on memorization, and not enough on individuality and creativity. I do what I can to broaden these young fresh minds, encouraging them to choose topics of interest for their reading and writing assignments. I remind them that even the great Albert Einstein believed in exercising the right side of the brain, with quotes like "imagination is more important than knowledge".
I'll be leaving this tutoring gig in March to get back to my full time writing, and can only hope that the seeds of passion I have planted will someday flourish into helping make the world a more creatively beautiful place.
See you tomorrow:)
