Been a long time since I…
Been busy writing book 3 so haven’t put a post up since Xmas (tsk tsk). Current word count for Pyrite is 33k. Was struggling a bit up until the new year to keep a consistent level of output, but hit a rich vein of form recently. No idea why it happens but sometimes it just flows. It might be garbage or it might be pure literary excellence, I’ve no idea (but I think I’ve a good idea which end of that spectrum it sits nearer.)
Anyway I’ll try to make an effort to put more regular updates.

I’ve reduced the price of my first novel, which is also the first book in the Redemption of Wist series, to 99p on kindle.
Go grab it now!

WIP: 10k done
Woo hoo! That’s the first 10 thousand words done for my third book Prasad. It’s starting to come together nicely too (I think). Feels good to get back in to the habit of writing regularly (even if it’s only a few hundred words a day).

Some more writing
I only managed 500 words today. They might not be happy words but I am happy with them. Maybe I’ll write some more tomorrow, but maybe not.

Dune: revisited
I’m currently re-listening to the epic Dune by Frank Herbert. Something that occurs to me now is how many of the so-called “writing rules” he breaks. Constant shifts of POV, lots of similes, lots of internal dialog telling you how the protagonists are feeling.
And you know what? It’s excellent. Just goes to show, eh?

Writing speed
This is a graph of me writing the first draft of my 2nd novel Pyrite. The bottom line is that it took me just over 12 months. A couple of things that I can see from the graph is where I tried to hurry up to get a big chunk done before the arrival of #babyg3 and where I eased off when things got busy around the house when he showed up (finally).
It’ll be interesting to see how my 3rd books shapes up in comparison to this.

The thick plottens
Yes, it’s that time again. Plotting time.
OK so I’ve already written eight and a half thousand words and am two chapters to the good, but still… time to get the pencil case and notebooks out and get scribbling.
Dear Santa…
What would you like for xmas? I’d love a (some) review ( s ) of my book ( s ). If you’ve read either of them, please consider writing a review on Amazon ( or goodreads ). It doesn’t have to be long, a few words will do. It doesn’t have to be favorable, but it would be good if it was honest.
