There are women who have gone before us…

There are women who have gone before us…

(Chapter 7 Infographic Below)

We don’t have to figure out our motherhood and life all by ourselves. Sometimes we think that we do. But there are so many women who have gone before us, and they are happy to help us along our journeys.

“I would have given more focus daily to being my best spiritual, physical, and emotional self. Being my best within, would enable me to be my best for my children.”

Brenda Conley, Mother of four, Grandmother of two

Read, or re-read, some of the wonderful wisdom from these women in TILT, starting on page 217.

Let others help you along the way.

Warm regards,

Marci

What can we do to help make our 2016 dreams and goals come true?

Template with Sheltering Arms photo

What can we do to help make our 2016 dreams and goals come true?

“You have to dream before your dreams can come true.”

A. P. J. Abdul Kalam

Tilt_Graphic Jan Dreams

1. Have a goal. The most important first step is to have one that matters to you.

2. If you don’t have one, or are not sure if what you have is what you want, read

John Maxwell’s “Put Your Dream To The Test.”

Sometimes we could use a little input from the right person to help us clarify.

3. Be willing to have a goal that you may not achieve…right away.

Sometimes it takes awhile to get where we are trying to go.

That is ok, it is part of our journey.

May you be brave enough to set goals, then have the courage and conviction to go after them when it doesn’t work out perfectly.

Here’s to your 2016!!

Amazon Best Seller with my daughter – “Ellie Makes A New Friend”!

My eleven year old daughter, Elle and I, have written an adventure book series The Amazing Adventures of Ellie The Elephant. The series is about the adventures of her favorite stuffed animals, Ellie the Elephant and Pudgy the Penguin. “The Amazing Adventures of Ellie The Elephant – Ellie Makes a New Friend” is the first book in the series.

Elle shared about working on this together – “Writing this book with my mom showed me that you are never too young to do something special.”  We are grateful that it is still on the Amazon Best Seller lists!

If your child wants to make new friends, she will love “Ellie Makes A New Friend”!

The #TILTtip in July is “Wings”

“Oops I forgot that! My brain must be broken!”

Chloe, Age 7

  The #TILTtip in July is

Wings

Tilt_Graphic - July Wings

So often we beat ourselves up with guilt, thinking that we should be that “Wonder Woman” mom like “all” the other moms are.

I have to tell you – behind closed doors none of us are Wonder Woman moms.  Everyone has their own struggles or worries or responsibilities.

One of the biggest causes of our guilt is this idea that we have to do way too much FOR our children.

In fact, the best thing we can do is teach them how to do it for themselves.

So remind yourself that when we teach them, we give them WINGS. And we give wings to ourself.

Here’s to our wings!

The #TILTtip in June is “Roots”

“There are only two lasting bequests we can give our children:

one is roots, the other is wings.”

Hodding Carter

Tilt_Graphic - June Roots

  The #TILTtip in June is

Roots

With all the choices we have to make in our parenting, the roots we choose to create for them will shape their lives. Roots are your values that you instill in them and the traditions that make memories for a lifetime.

A couple thoughts to consider –

1. What values are important to you?

2. What simple thing could you do this month to encourage your child to respect and grow with that value?

3. What could you do to model that value in your life? They watch us sometimes more than they listen to us!!

Remember that “Your actions speak so loud, I cannot hear what you are saying.”

Model the behavior you want them to develop. Grow their roots, and you both grow your wings.

Here’s to our roots,

Marci
