Cheryl Matthynssens - Author update!

Wow, so much has happened since I started this blog so let me see if I can catch you up!
Health wise: I have my last dose of chemo on March 17th- 19th. It looks like I am kicking it into remission. I will be glad not to be sick every other week as this major impacts everything I do including writing and publicity.
Since starting chemo, I have still been able to put out two novels and one children book. Magic Scorned (very adult), The Bloodmines and Once Upon a...Wait! I can't wait to see wh...

A Sneak Peak at Book Four - Pseudo-dragon

“Henrick, I assure you. I did not send Sordith to kill you,” Luthian’s cold tones held an edge of warning. “Liar. You want me dead. Do it yourself.” Fire rose up from Henrick’s hands and at the same time, Alador made his decision. Before Henrick or Luthian could fire off a spell, Alador hit Henrick square in the chest with a bolt of lightening. Henrick flew backwards hitting the ground hard. Alador...

This Amazing Review Made my Day!
Thank you Robert from New Mexico! I appreciate the support as independent authors have to be their own publicists!
This review was found on audible for the audio version of the book!
"Engaging, entertaining book series"
"It has been a while but this book is both a traditional Epic swords and sorcery adventure that had characters that you care about a couple of new twists on the traditional swords and sorcery theme. I found each book to be satisfying individually and yet the first...

A Blog Interview with Amy Metz
Amy Metz is the author of a humorous southern mystery series. Murder & Mayhem In Goose Pimple Junction was her first novel, and it was re-released in September 2014. Heroes & Hooligans in Goose Pimple Junction, released in December 2014, is Book 2 in the series.
She started a blog in the hopes of helping other authors promote their work. In the South, She lives in Louisville, Kentucky, where they have a campaign called, “Keep Louisville Weird.” That’s simply a catchy way of saying supp...

Words From One of the Greats on Fantasy!

“For my present purpose I require a word which shall embrace both the Sub-Creative Art in itself, and a quality of strangeness and wonder in the Expression, derived from the Image: a quality essential to fairy-story. I propose, therefore, to arrogate to myself the powers of Humpty-Dumpty, and to use Fantasy for this purpose: in a sense, that is, which combines with its older and higher use as an equivalent of Imagination the derived notions of 'unreality' (that is, of unlik...

Bloodmines on Countdown
It has been a month since release and to celebrate, I have put Bloodmines on Countdown. It will go from .99 to 1.99 to 2.99. This is only in the U.S. at this time. I have one scheduled for the U.K. at the end of the month. So far, Amazon does not allow countdown in other countries. I am not sure if this is due to complications in taxation and accounting or why.
It has been a great month with some great feedback. I have it in audio production and the new narrator is ver...

Thank Goodness for Honest Reviewers!
About a week ago, I had updated the e-book version of Bloodmines on kindle. Apparently, and by my fault, (still don't know how) I ended up with a duplicate of Ch. 16 and no Ch. 17. Needless to say, much egg is on my face.
I have asked Amazon if they can send everyone who purchased or borrowed the book the updated copy. I don't know if this will be possible. In the short week it was up with two ch. 16s and no Ch. 17, I sold about 500...

Position Open for Sheriff - Live Writing Exercise!
The sound of the creaking wood and the rhythmic tapping was the first of Brandwil's realizations. The second was the fact his hands were chained above his head to a wall. Confusion surged through him as he groaned. The third realization as that his chest was on fire and his head pounded with a deafening headache. It seemed to surge with the tapping that seemed close.
"Hello?" he called. He used his arms to try to work off the blindfold that he could feel on his face.
"Ah yes,...

Free to Wander - Live Writing
"Thief! Guards, Guards!" The vendor pointed at the young woman as she meandered through the market stalls.
Abryatook no note of the man's shouting. She was sure what ever thief was about would soon be caught. No, today she was in amazement. Last night she had received her full name,AbryaMoonsong. Today, was her first day to wander on her own. She had never been so excited in her life. Many did not get their first wander in a city.

A Dragon's Menhir - Live Writing
Nate hit the cold dark marble floor as the two guards tossed him forward. His hands were bound behindhim,so he was unable to catch himself. The throne room of Jesparian Nethandial was not a welcome place as he managed to pick his head up enough to look about. The pillars, the floor and even the walls were lined with the same black stone. The trimmings were all in blood red and the only brightness to the vast room was the crackling fire behind the dais.
Nate did not dare to pick up his head any...
