The Story Behind the Galahad Movie

A few years ago my agent phoned and said, “Dom, I have great news. A cable television network loves the Galahad series, and they’d like to option it for a possible movie and TV series.”

How would you react to a call like that?

When I

The Bulging Netflix Queue

About twenty years ago Bruce Springsteen released a song called “57 Channels (And Nothin’ On).” It was a rare flop for the Jersey rocker, perhaps because it was a little too obvious. He wasn’t telling us anything we didn’t know.

Television at that

The Positive Password

Brian had an argument with his wife one morning, just before going to work. By the time he arrived at the office his feelings had already meandered this way and that, alternating between anger, frustration, and - finally - regret.

Sitting at his desk, he logged on to his computer an

The Anonymous Actor

I just finished watching an eight-part series on Netflix, a British drama called Broadchurch. You may have heard of it, but it’s likely that you haven’t; although a huge hit in the UK, the ratings for this murder mystery were paltry in the States.

Which is a shame.

Doctor Dating

I got dumped by my doctor.

Okay, that’s a little dramatic. The truth is, he retired. After spending his entire adult life caring for others and dispensing both medical advice and gentle suggestions, he has moved on to a life of hiking, reading, and enjoying his grandkids

Page Count

About fifteen or twenty years ago I read the first two books in Stephen King’s Dark Tower series, then lost interest. The books were fine - and I’d enjoyed many of King’s early pieces - but they just didn’t

Tenth Anniversary of The Comet's Curse

It’s been exactly ten years since I independently published a teenage adventure book called The Comet’s Curse. At the time I had modest expectations; I figured it was a nice companion piece for my sch

Interstellar Memories

I saw Christopher Nolan’s latest spectacle, the sci-fi film Interstellar. After several people told me it was horrible and several others said it was fantastic, I figured I’d invest a few bucks and find out for myself.

My opinion: Somewhere in-between.<br

Book Signings and Gratitude

At one of my recent book signings a woman patiently stood in line. She was alone, and seemed to make nervous small-talk with a few people around her. When she finally stepped up to the table, she held out a book and - with a flushed look on her face - said, “Would you please sign this? A

Ten Bucks, Forty Meals

It's incredible what ten dollars can do. Most of us piddle away money here and there, not even sure where it's going. We oughta be embarrassed by how much we actually waste.

But a mere ten dollar donation to The Food Bank of The Rockies can be turned into forty meals for the
