Thursday photo prompt: Span #writephoto

What a beauiful story of young love and friendship, that no matter what, survived the test of time. So true about Soul Mates. So lovely and heartwarming.

For visually challenged writers, the image shows a a view between two trees of a rapid river tumbling over stones beneath a bridge. The banks are lush and green, and the water is spanned by a simple arch of stone, all overgrown with a green carpet and shaded by trees.

She heard the cuckoo’s chorus echo in the trees. A sign of Spring and opportunity.

The water gently splashed against her ankles as she dipped her toes into the refreshing stream. Soon it would be dry and she’d be able to walk from one bank to the other without using the bridge.

Their names were still there, crudely carved beneath with ragged stones which they’d kept as a reminder of days long gone.
As kids, they had come here to play and cool off, later to…

“The Midnight World” – A Supernatural Poem

This poem, composed by Frederic Chopin, took my breath away. It is stunning and reveals a fascinating concept about the darkness of night.

Supernatural Hippie

There is Beauty in The Deepest Night

Enchantment in The Depths of Dark

A World of Mysteries Lies in Shade

Intensities about to Spark

Another Realm that’s Cloaked in Darkness

Yet just as Powerful as the Brightest Day

The Midnight World is Esoteric

Extinguishing mundane land of Grey

There is Magic in the Hours of Darkness

A certain sense of Expectancy

Where Dreams begin and desires are channelled

In Solitude, prayer or Sorcery

Captivating Shades of Black

Excite the Mind and Free the Soul

As a new dawn beckons beyond the horizon

Entering into The Great Unknown

Sue Vincent’s #writephoto prompt: Open

All the doors where open when I arrived for my job interview. I thought it was quite strange, but perhaps their air conditioning was broken or maybe they liked fresh air. I like fresh air, so why not?

I called out, “hello?” but there was no response and then I thought, maybe they are out to lunch or having a meeting in a closed door environment for privacy. It could be for a dozen different reasons. “I am not about to be worried,” I told myself, “am I…worried?”

“Oh, of course not,” I said. Just walk on in, I thought, and introduce yourself. But then, I pictured what might be going on…after all…I have been patiently waiting here for a good forty-five minutes and not a sound have I heard. Hmmm. What could possibly be going on? Maybe they left for lunch? I looked at my watch, probably not, I though, since it is only ten-thirty in the morning, and my interview was for 9 o’clock sharp, they said.

Okay, enough is enough, I thought. I will walk right in. I hesitantly stepped over the threshold with one foot and then stepped back again. I asked myself…what would someone else do?  So, instead of walking in, I called out again. “Hello? Is anybody there?”  I waited for a response. None came. Hmmm…well, maybe I should just go home. Maybe, they have left me a phone message.

I made my way home, and put down my resume, purse, and took off my shoes. I decided to wait until they called me. The very next morning, I opened the morning newspaper as usual. I was shocked. Apparently, they were tied up and robbed yesterday morning, and the robber had just left them tied up and gagged.

Fortunately, they were unharmed, just scared to death. I realized that the robber might have seen me waiting and I hoped I wasn’t in trouble. Suddenly, I heard a knock on the door. I wasn’t expecting anyone at that time of the morning, and didn’t answer the door. I decided not to leave my apartment for a couple of days and didn’t answer the phone or the door.

To my regret, it wasn’t the thief, and why I should regret that I don’t know, but the person at the door was the boss I was to be interviewed by and by the time I called them to explain, they had already hired someone else. Nonetheless, I felt sure I had done the right thing. I can always get a job, but not a new life. “Better safe then sorry,” my mother would always say…and she would be right.

Sue Vincent’s #writephoto Photo Prompt – The Glade

I have often driven by this strangely odd glade with the year round creepy leafless trees. It is as though the trees were caught dancing in the wind mid-movement by some ghastly phenomena or caught up in wicked spell. I even walk by this graveyard-like glade, during my morning walks, but I have never had the courage to walk into it. The entire area gives me goosebumps. Perhaps it is the numerous scary stories told about this place that gives it a spooky reputation. Perhaps there is magic here and maybe the large stones carry that magic or even some small standing stones that make it creepy.

As a matter of fact, I have yet to see a single person walking through the glade, but I do carry a secret that I should not tell a single soul. It happened early one spring morning a few years back, as I was walking by the glade. A day that I will never forget. It was my usual early morning walk. A beautiful day it was too.  I stop for a moment to look at the glade. I sensed and then saw something was different. Something was happening. A miasma was forming right before my eyes, inside the boundaries of the glade. It wasn’t a person, like you or me, no, it was only a formed likeness of a human being.

The stench from it was almost unbearable. At first, I thought it was just a trick of the light playing with my eyes, but it wasn’t. It was real. Almost as real as you and me. I was too scared to even move or run. I stood as immobile as a standing stone in the glade. The newly formed being’s long dark hair floated in the wind, but there was no wind at all. She stood there silently, as though she was looking at something, something I couldn’t see.

Was I observing a different time, a parallel universe? I even tried not to breathe for fear it might hear me or see movement from my chest, but whatever I did or didn’t do, caught it’s attention. At first it looked scared…of me?  It started to back a way, to float as it were, barely above the ground.

Suddenly, she turned toward me and was in front of me in heartbeat, yet she remained just inside the boundaries of the glade. She looked as frightened of me as I was of her. Then she did something so unexpected that I had to smile. She smiled at me and nodded. She didn’t speak, no. But her smile was innocent, sweet, like a little girl. So I continued smiling too.

Then there was a rumbling from the earth inside the boundaries of the glade. She looked scared and in an instant she was back to the place inside the creepy glade were she had formed. She looked up at me sadly, as though she wished she didn’t have to say goodbye so soon. It was as though the earth just swallowed her up and she gone. I still comeback at the same time of day, in early spring. Hoping against hope, that she would appear again.

I am standing at the boundaries of the glade now, as I finish writing this note to whoever might read it someday. I fold it in half and place it into a plastic bag. I put it on the ground with a rock on top of it and take a deep breath as I step inside the boundaries of the glade. I begin to feel the earth rumble beneath my feet.

#Writephoto – Open

Reblogging this excellent SueVincent photoprompt # Open, short story by Robertawrites235681907.

Roberta Writes

From the handwritten notes of Lisa Robinson

7 July

My job is being made redundant. My boss, Prof Thompson, said the company was retrenching all the executive secretaries and replacing them with new advanced voice recorder and audio editor technology.

“Most of the scientists and researchers elected to implement the new system which will record their work and transcribe it using the speech to text technology,” he said.

Anxiety clutched my heart at his words, but I forced a smile and said: “I understand why this technology is the popular choice, it will give them a lot of flexibility with the recording process. They will have the ability to quickly start and stop their recordings, add individual notes, upload their recordings to Dropbox, GoogleDrive or Onedrive or any other cloud storage provider and download recordings by USB cable or WiFi sync to their laptops. I can see its appeal.” Lisa’s…

That Old Familiar Feeling…

I hear you. Loving a pet is no different than loving a cognitive personality, a child or even an adult, to those that know them and love them and to others that just love most animals – including human animals. Jinx’s photo shows obvious understanding of humans, he even thinks we don’t understand how the world really works, especially, that most people don’t even know how very cognitive he is. He is amazing. I just had to look into his eyes to know him.

Wicked Witch of the Mid-West

When your familiar is sick the world stops.

Saturday I notice my faithful familiar was not his usual talkative self. He didn’t adhere to his set schedule. When I say his set schedule, I do mean HIS. Jinx is the master of the house and he determines how things are done.

He didn’t greet me first thing in the morning to ‘inspect’ the bedroom while I prepared for the day. He didn’t talk me through the number of morning treats he deserved. He didn’t greet me at the door when I arrived home. He didn’t demand ‘good stuff’ for the clowder Sunday night. He just wasn’t Jinxy Jinx over the weekend.

Then, Monday night, came home and he wasn’t eating or drinking. He was drooling all over himself. Just looking absolutely miserable. I am not one who can see an animal in distress and not want desperately to save it…

Let Us Know Peace

This is a beautiful poem and stunning art.

Windmills of My Mind

Let us know peace

For as long as the moon shall rise

For as long as the rivers shall flow

For as long as sun shall shine

For as long as the grass shall grow

Let us know peace

The red devil ballerina

Robbie, I love this, the Red Devil Ballerina. It is beautiful and devilishly charming and the cutest Ballerina I have ever seen. Thank you sharing.

Robbie's inspiration

IMG_0027 Little Miss Christmas Cracker on the stage in Chocolate Land – I don’t have a picture of a red devil [smile]

When I was a little girl, I wanted to be a ballerina just like hundreds of other little girls all over the world. My mother, being a kind and understanding woman, indulged me in this desire and I attended ballet classes from when I was five years old.

When I was seven, I was a good enough ballerina to participate in the annual ballet concert hosted by my ballet school. My class of small girls were to perform the dance of the ladybird. I am sure you know the nursery rhyme which goes:

“Ladybird, ladybird,

Fly away home,

Your house is on fire

And your children all gone;

All except one

And that’s little Ann,

And she has crept under

The warming pan.”

When the great day arrived, my…

Climate change increases risk of wars

Please, everyone listen to this. This is what is happening in America.

Dear Kitty. Some blog

This 12 June 2019 video from the USA says about itself:

Climate Change Concentration Camps

Family separation is one of the most controversial actions the Trump administration has taken and now the victims of climate change may be the next locked in cages.

Climate change refugees are on their way and the Trump administration is preparing for them by housing migrants where Japanese Americans were interned during WWII.

Is Donald Trump creating Climate Change Concentration Camps?

This 10 June 2019 video from Stanford University in the USA says about itself:

Synthesizing views from experts in different fields, a new study led by Katharine Mach, Director of the Stanford Environment Assessment Facility, and co-authored by Kenneth Schultz, Professor of Political Science at Stanford, finds that climate has affected the risk of armed conflict to date and its impact is expected to increase substantially with future warming.

As a Dutch…
