Are Teachers & Parents afraid to stand for students rights?
Silence is the word that I often heard by some teachers in the classroom.
This silence brought several students to conformity to regulations and it was termed as ‘discipline’. I understand teachers do require peace of mind as an adult now but what are we expecting from kids who are yet to be adult!
This silence has shut the creative space for awhile and cumulative over years. In one of my recent conversation with The Lead Man of India – Dr. Thuppil Venkatesh, says an true and profound words – kids rely on other people to tell them what to do even when they grow up. (conversation link) How true and sad the story of children on decision making?
Several schools and college have attractive infrastructure as rightly pointed by a former IITian and Professor, Dr. Dhindaw says, “now-a-days education is perceived as business”. He suggests investment must go beyond infrastructure such as motivating teachers and pay them rightly. (Conversation link)

I have continued to feel bad on knowing and learning how little teachers are paid for their passion for creating valuable citizens. However, I believe for people who have money as a driving factor should choose other profession assuming teachers & fellow man don’t stand up for their voice. I see teachers who stand up for themselves will make children stronger. In an informal conversation with educators I have come across some become teachers just to be engaged. I think its actually harming several children over one person need. As in desires of ones life several lives are at stake!
I was surprised parents, teachers and several media platform to have only apolitical talks. I think teachers & parents must have tough classroom/ home conversations about race, racism, sexuality, democracy, violence and so on. It would be too late by the time one becomes an adult. Often adults are silenced by misusing the law or power. The silence continues!
Some Parents often no less in silencing not only their children but others as well. I still remember a day and still fresh it was yesterday – two of us were preparing for board exams at friends house. Friend parents were watching TV with volume that distracted us. I requested my friend to if his parents could lower the volume of switch off TV for awhile. As he walked into their room, I head a voice yelling at him – We need TV to break our stress. Your and you could go somewhere else to study! Poor friend!
Several educators have mentioned in conversations that teachers are confronted by parents on school fees matter. See the matter of standing-up for themselves and others comes back! As teachers and parents we need to do it for ourselves so that children could do atleast for themselves. I think parents must go the school or college leaders not to always depend on media and others to stand-up on their behalf. Time will let individuals know if education system if worth time and time. “Individuals success relies on freedom of learning, inquisitiveness and curiosity“, says Dr Thuppil in an conversation. He also believes most of the
