EXCERPT:
“Don’t move,” a deep, masculine voice commanded.
Amber froze. The hair on the back of her neck stood up. Waves of fear poured down her spine.
“Hands where I can see them,” the voice continued.
Amber thrust her hands straight up into the air. Her stomach burned, fear roiling in its depths. If she didn’t have an ulcer when this over, it would be a miracle. She closed her eyes for a second, hoping the voice belonged to Wyatt. Because if it wasn’t him, or she was in the wrong year, surely, she was dead. Trespassing was against the law even in this backward time. Great, and she didn’t think it was possible for her anxiety level to climb any higher.
“Turn around…slowly.”
The initial signs of an oncoming panic attack banged at the door to her senses. Her heart pounded, her chest tightened, and her head spun like she’d just come off the tilt-a-whirl at the amusement park. But she did as she was told and inched herself around, one baby step at a time.
If anything confirmed her trip back in time one hundred and forty years, this was it. The cowboy standing before her was tall, over six feet, and clad in what she expected to see a man from the 1880s to be dressed in. He wore an unbuttoned vest over a linen shirt with the sleeves rolled up to his elbows. His pants were super snug, and his dusty cowboy boots covered his legs from the knees down. The empty holster sat low over his right hip, and the silver spurs at his heels clanked as he moved toward her.
“W-Wyatt?” She swallowed nervously, lowering her hands. “D-don’t shoot!”
Dark blond brows shot up when she said his name, but he waved the gun and took another step toward her.
“I didn’t say you could lower your hands.”
Oh, shit!
She thrust her hands up again. “You…you are Wyatt, aren’t you? Wyatt Kincaid. Please tell me you are. Otherwise, I’m seriously screwed…in more ways than you could possibly imagine.”
Mesmerizing green eyes widened, and then his gaze swept over her from head to toe but remained on her feet. “I’d recognize twenty-first century sneakers anywhere.”
He tipped his chin toward her footwear, but his gun remained aimed at her.
Relief surged through her, and she sagged a little. This must be Emma’s husband. Now she understood what compelled her best friend to return to a previous century. Emma, you got yourself one fine husband. Out of all the details Emma revealed about Wyatt last year, Amber didn’t recall anything about him having such compelling green eyes. It was difficult to look away, not that she wanted to, she had to. This was her best friend’s husband.
Chalk it up to her time-travel muddled mind.
He took a step toward her and tilted his head to study her. “I’m guessing you’re…Amber?”
“Uh-huh. That’s right.” She nodded, still a little stunned. “Where’s Emma? I need to see her.”
His scowl quickly turned into a smile, and he holstered his gun. “Wow, the famous Amber Harrison in the flesh.”
He recognized her! Inside, she jumped up and down with excitement. “You know me? Wait, I don’t know how that’s possible. We’ve never met.”
“I recognize you from a photo Emma brought back with her last year…but you’re mistaken about who I am.”
She retreated a step. “If…if you’re not Wyatt Kincaid, then who are you?”
His smile widened, and he extended his hand. “Hi, I’m Josh. Wyatt and James’s brother.”

A Guide to Fake Dating Your Enemy by Nikki Bright
A Guide to Fake Dating Your Enemy
Nikki Bright
Publication date: January 9th 2025
Genres: Adult, Comedy, Contemporary, Romance
Samuel Warner is rich, charming, the CEO of his family’s business, and the guy I’ve hated since grade school. Now, thanks to one of my more questionable ideas, he’s also my new pretend boyfriend.
Our families have been at each other’s throats for three generations, fighting over the future of our small town. The Warners are all for bulldozing and modernizing every corner of Fox Creek, while my family is determined to preserve our quirky little town and its quaint ways. But even without the family feud, Samuel’s charm and charisma (and his maddening smirk) would still get on my nerves.
Samuel is insufferably smooth, his favorite hobby is teasing me even though he’s able to charm the most cantankerous granny in the county, and he’s spine-tinglingly handsome. Worse yet, he knows it!
But when my brother falls head over heels for a Warner girl, I’m desperate to find a way to unite our families. So, I propose a totally sane, not-at-all-ridiculous plan: Samuel and I will pretend to be in a serious relationship, faking our way to family peace and town harmony with a Romeo-and-Juliet-style performance (minus the tragedy at the end).
First problem with this fantastic idea? Samuel agrees way too quickly, which screams that he’s got a hidden agenda. And yet, he’s so perfect in the role of doting boyfriend, I can’t figure out what his angle is.
Second problem? This relationship might be fake, but my heart didn’t get the memo. Every “date” and impromptu public display of affection Samuel insists on performing stirs up feelings I’m not prepared for. Soon enough, I’m wondering if I can really end this without a total family feud—or losing my heart.
A Guide to Fake Dating Your Enemy is a laugh-out-loud small-town romantic comedy full of swoon-worthy moments, sizzling kisses, and a romance that’s anything but fake. It’s a closed door romance with mild swearing/language.

EXCERPT:
I inhaled the steam from my latte for courage. “You’re right.”
I braced myself for a smug response.
Samuel—who was in the middle of sipping his Americano—set his drink down and immediately moved on, pushing the plan ahead with a suspicious amount of eagerness. “Good. Then, since we’ve been a couple for months, we’ll need to adopt some habits long-term couples have, like pet names. Naturally, we’ll also need to be physically expressive.”
“For nicknames we can just call each other Nat and Sam, since that’s what our families call us,” I said.
Samuel idly tapped his phone screen. “You know my family calls me Sam?”
“Of course I do,” I said, a little irritated. “We might not get along, but I’ve seen you almost every week of my life.”
“True.” Samuel gave me a more thoughtful look that made me shift in my comfy seat. “I guess I just didn’t expect you to pay attention to details about me.”
“Oh,” I said.
I suppose since the two of us rarely did anything besides bicker, I’d never given him a reason to believe I saw him as anything more than a picture I tacked to a dartboard to take out my aggression on.
“Alright, so we’ve got our pet names down,” Samuel said. “Now to address the physical aspect of our relationship.”
“Yeah. About that.” I took another sip of my latte, then set it back down on the coffee table. “We’ll have to stick to hugs and occasional hand-holding.”
“What?” Samuel sat on the edge of his love seat. “What kind of serious couple only hugs and holds hands? We should at least be prepared for short kisses.”
“Kisses?” I cackled. “I don’t think I could believably kiss you without looking like I want to wipe that smug smile off your handsome face.”
Samuel playfully tilted his head. “I’m flattered you think I’m handsome, Nat. Don’t worry—I promise not to let it go to my head.”
“Focus, Samuel. Focus,” I said.
Samuel relaxed and once again leaned back against the couch. “Of course, you want to stick to business. Fine, we can start with hugs and hand-holding.”
“Occasional hand-holding,” I corrected.
“If either one of us thinks our act isn’t convincing enough, we’ll revisit the physical touch aspect.” Samuel typed out his notes on his cell phone. “Does that make you happy?”
“Yes,” I reluctantly agreed. “We’ll probably have to adjust as we go anyway. Could you email me your notes?”
“I’ll do you one better and text them,” he said. “What’s your number?”
I internally weighed the pros and cons of giving him my number. Knowing Samuel, he’d start texting me in the middle of the night, asking me what the process was to submit construction permits, just to be annoying.
“Nat, darling, honey,” Samuel cooed. “What kind of serious boyfriend would I be if I didn’t have your number?”
Oh yeah. He was definitely going to send me annoying text messages.

Ivy decides to take the chance.

When one of his enthusiastic tenants brings him a tin of delicious-looking cookies, he’s charmed. Suddenly, Ivy has her pick of the town’s eligible bachelors—except Jaxon. How can she prove her sister wrong and win Jaxon’s heart?

EXCERPT:
Ivette Wayland caught her breath. With the sun shining down on him, Jaxon Langford always caught her just a little unawares. He only lived upstairs, but every morning she found herself anticipating his first appearance of the day. She gazed through the plate glass window of her cozy tea shop as his little black Scottie dog scampered to keep up with his long strides. Jaxon halted just outside her door.
Would he enter?
She ached to run her fingers through that molasses-brown hair, still damp from the shower and sparkling like sugared ginger crinkles. It was ridiculous how much she yearned to touch him. He was her landlord, for goodness’ sake. Ivy reined in her longing. Jaxon paused on the sidewalk and quickly stepped over to hold open the door for the tiny, elderly Hazel Bestwick, president of the Hazard Historical Society.
Please come inside, Jaxon.
A couple of young boys on their way to school, backpacks swinging, asked him a question. Jaxon leaned down to answer. He fist-bumped the taller of the two boys and grinned. Jaxon’s smile shot straight to her core. As if sensing her watching, he glanced at the window, trying to see through sunlight bouncing off glass, his eyes the color of a well-steeped Irish breakfast tea.
She let out a little sigh. What she wouldn’t give to have him for…
“Focus,” said a voice behind her.
Ivy jumped and blinked twice to bring herself back to reality. “You have customers.
Remember your goals.”
Her older sister’s constant criticism put her on the defensive. Ivy swung abruptly to face her, causing her high blonde ponytail to smack her own cheek. She shoved it back. “Business is steady.”
“My business is steady.” Holly drew herself up straighter in her pink bakery smock smoothing a hand over her flawless updo before sweeping an arm out to draw Ivy’s attention to the nearly empty tearoom. “Your business is slow. And he…” She flapped her hand toward the window “…is a distraction to success. You can’t have it all.”

Excerpt
The ringing telephone woke me up. Without opening my eyes, I felt around until I touched the nightstand and finally, my phone. “Hello.”
“Wake up.”
I groaned. “Alex, what do you want?”
“I need you to wake up.”
I forced myself to sit up. The clock on the radio said it was after ten. “This better be important.”
“Something is terribly wrong,” Alex said. “It’s the thirtieth and nobody’s dead.”
“Hallelujah.” I hung up and dived back into my pillow. The phone rang again, and I groaned. Only Alex would think that no dead bodies meant something was wrong.
I rolled over and grabbed the phone. “Now what?”
“No one’s dead.”

Genres: Adult, Comedy, Dark Romance, Romance
“Be honest with me, Brian. Are we going on a cross-country killing spree?”
“I’d hardly call it a spree.”
Brian Sloane is a pure psychopathic monster… to everyone but Mina.
She was looking for a good man to scratch a particular itch but instead ended up bought by the violent enforcer of a submissive training house.
Against all odds, the villain became her hero. She was the light to his dark until the lights went out, and the darkness inside her came out to play.
Now they’re both killers, chasing the blood lust, running toward their demons, each hit job more dangerous than the last. From a twisted Easter hunt, to an explosive Fourth of July, from a deadly masquerade ball, to an even deadlier Krampus run, culminating in the Do or Die Valentine’s Day Kill that will either seal their doom or their happily ever after.
Do killers even deserve a happy ending?
—
EXCERPT:
It’s after dark when we arrive at the Windsor Estate. The heavily guarded iron gate extends around Drake Windsor’s massive property which seems to go on for miles. I grip Brian’s arm and lean in to whisper in his ear as we walk along the well-lit path up to the front door.
“What about weapons?” I whisper.
“No weapons,” he says. “They’ll pat us down and send us all through a metal detector inside.”
“Then how in the f**k are we going to do this? Are you planning to kill him with your bare hands?”
Brian shrugs. “I could. He’s too refined to get his own hands dirty. He’s old money.”
“What does he do? Besides hiring assassins to kill all his enemies.” You’d think Brian would have listed this man’s profession on the murder wall.
“Oil magnate.”
“Is that even still a thing?”
“Apparently,” he says.
“I thought you’d tell me he was in the tech industry.”
Brian laughs. “I said old money.”
“Fossil fuel. Checks out.” Dinosaurs are for sure old.
I stop talking as we get closer to the house. It’s so big, even the word mansion doesn’t quite cover it. The security detail are all big burly guys wearing suits and electronic ear pieces. They give us both a once over, their eyes staying on me a bit longer than is actually necessary.
The first one pats Brian down, and then goes for me, but Brian closes a tight grip over the man’s wrist.
His voice is low and calm when he speaks. “Elvin, I swear to every power living and dead that if you touch her, you will not survive to see your daughter’s first Christmas.”
The guard swallows hard. “I have orders…”
“You have metal detectors. You and I both know that’s the real security. This pat down business is just security theater—a display of Windsor’s power and nothing more. You think about whether it’s worth your life to participate in this charade.”
He nods. “Go on in, Mr. Sloan.” Then he nods at me, “Ma’am.”

A Wallflower’s Stolen Christmas: Lady Be Vengeful by Dawn Brower
A Wallflower’s Stolen Christmas: Lady Be Vengeful
by Dawn Brower
(Revenge of the Wallflowers Book 42)
Selena Brooks would much prefer the comforts of home during Christmastide. Why the blazes would anyone want to endure a house party for a whole fortnight? Especially someone like her—a perpetual wallflower. Society had never cared about her presence, let alone noticed her. That is, until her cousin restored the family’s finances and set aside a substantial dowry for her. Suddenly, she was deemed “desirable.”
Well, they could all return to whatever holes they had crawled out of. Selena had no intention of marrying anyone who valued her for her dowry alone. Society’s dictates had already stolen enough from her, including the peace of a quiet Christmastide. But she would not bow to their expectations. The best revenge was living freely on her own terms, and she wouldn’t allow anyone—least of all a man—to dictate her future.
Kingston Rowe, Duke of Castlebury, wouldn’t have attended this house party at all if he didn’t owe a favor to a close friend. House parties had never appealed to him and the ton had proven as tiresome as ever. They all were a collection of posturing and pretentious fools.
But then he noticed her—Lady Selena Brooks. Among the insipid guests, she was a revelation. She said and did as she pleased with her sharp tongue she put them all in their places—including him. She was unlike any woman he had ever encountered, and she tempted him in ways he hadn’t anticipated. But how does a duke win the favor of a woman who wants nothing to do with courtship—or him?
