******
Set in “the land of the midnight sun”, Drum Dance is filled with adventure, paranormal intrigue, and danger in Canada’s Central Arctic, where Sir John Franklin and his crew froze to death searching for the Northwest Passage. In the late 1930s, 17-year-old David Jansson agrees to spend two years at an isolated fur-trading post with his estranged father, Per, manager for the Hudson's Bay Company. Soon regretting his decision to resume a relationship with a dad he feels no longer loves him, David foolishly risks his life—and his heart—when he forgets that the Arctic seldom gives a man a second chance. (Historical Fiction, Teens/Adults)

Unforgettable and brilliantly written

How wonderful it was to get back into Ms. Giacoletto's *voice* in her recent historical novel, Chicago's Headmistress. Having read all of this author's books, I've found each new story better than the last. Ms. Giacoletto has a unique command of both the English and the Italian languages, adding many fine details to bring her characters and settings to life.

While following the main character, Giulietta Bracca, from her tragic beginning as the daughter of a prostitute in Italy, through her trials and triumphs after sailing to America, I wanted to weep at times at the violence in her chosen profession, and at other times laugh at the subtle and not-so-subtle humor, while cheering this bigger-than-life character on as she came into her own as a shrewd, calculating madam of her own brothel. The Chicago setting was ideal. And, as to be expected in a book about prostitution, there were indeed naughty sex scenes. But it's rare to find a talented writer who can pen such intimate details without becoming vulgar. I was especially pleased to become reacquainted with the Baggio brothers, two characters from Giacoletto's previous novel, The Family Angel.

I highly recommend this book, as well as Ms. Giacoletto's other family sagas. In my opinion, Chicago's Headmistress absolutely deserves the five stars, and more. I would not be surprised to someday find this book on the NY Times Bestseller list, it's that good. More from this author, please!

Problem solved!

I was able to get "3rd Rock from the Sun," by the *other* Bonnie Turner, removed from my list of titles. Thanks to the powers that be at Goodreads. :)

More later. I am tired.

Correction, please!

How do I remove a book from my list? The title "Third Rock from the Sun" was written by a different Bonnie Turner. She is famous; I am not, and I don't want to give the impression I'm publishing under her name. I have NO idea how this book got listed among mine.

I don't get here often enough to know my way around. Help?

Thanks!

P.S. My novel "Down the Memory Hole" is coming up free again at Amazon on July 25th. If this heat doesn't fry my brain, I'll try to post an update on the day it's free.

This is a book people love. Originally written for middle grades, it's now been taken over by adults of all ages. Please check it out.

Oh, and I dropped the price of Drum Dance to $2.99 on Kindle, so you'll want to pick this one up too -- a book set in the Arctic is especially enjoyable in this hot HOT mid-western summer. If this doesn't cool you off, nothing will.

I'll be back!
