RollBots Recap: 107 “House Call”

Every week, I’m going to try and give you some inside information about episodes of RollBots, so you can see the things that went into producing each story. You should probably watch the episode first (probably won’t have a choice, since these posts won’t go live until after the episode airs).

Ah, House Call.  This episode is a great mix of one-off silliness and story arc goodness.  I’m kinda conflicted about how much to describe in these recaps from now on, because while it’s all in sync for Ca

Quick FAQ on the TorrentBoy Project

I’m trying to consolidate my answers about TorrentBoy into one place so I don’t keep repeating myself (badly) all the time.  This is my work-in-progress introduction to the Project…

What is TorrentBoy?It’s about a property for kids 6-11, about a kid named Wesley with a talking watch that turns him into a super hero named TorrentBoy.  Along with Crash (a laser blaster-wielding teddy bear) they save the world and protect the TorrentSphere from evil-doers and monsters like proton leeches.  The firs

TorrentBoy: Zombie World! (9 to go!)

Today we’re officially launching “TorrentBoy: Zombie World!“, my first chapter book for kids!  Put simply, it’s about a plot to take over the world by turning everyone into zombies, and only a super hero named TorrentBoy can save the day.  Oh, and there’s a teddy bear with a laser blaster and a sarcastic talking watch.  And potty humour.  It’s aimed at kids aged 6-11, obviously.

Not file sharing per se, no.  The underlying concept of the TorrentS

Wanted: Nitpickers for Animated Project

I am prepping to start production on a new animated property (that I personally find more exciting than anything else I’ve ever done), but before I move ahead, I need to recruit a few nitpickers.  People who can review stuff and tell me if it’s good or not.  I’m looking for people that like similar things, like Transformers or Storm Hawks or mind-bending story arcs like on Lost.  People who are not afraid to rip me to shreds when they see something flaky.

You’ll be privy to episodic spoilers, but

RollBots Recap: 106 “Inside Outside Upside Down”

Every week, I’m going to try and give you some inside information about episodes of RollBots, so you can see the things that went into producing each story.  You should probably watch the episode first (probably won’t have a choice, since these posts won’t go live until after the episode airs).

106 is one of those episodes that makes me smile.  We wanted to create a new character that had a history with Manx, and make him totally different than the other characters in the series so far.  We knew

1st Month Postmortem: Poke of the Titans

Normally I’d wait for the month to be over before doing one of these, but next week is probably going to be hectic, and I don’t want to forget about it.  Also, things are looking pretty consistent, so I can extrapolate.

(Just as a quick recap: I do 1, 6 and 12 month updates on how each of my books sells, so you can see what works and what fails.)

The SteamDuck books are a strange bunch.  They’re not meant for kids, but some adults find it odd to read a book with pictures (that aren’t comi

RollBots Recap: 105 “The Koto Protocol”

Every week, I’m going to try and give you some inside information about episodes of RollBots, so you can see the things that went into producing each story.  You should probably watch the episode first (probably won’t have a choice, since these posts won’t go live until after the episode airs).

Let’s take care of the easy stuff first: this has nothing to do with environmentalism.  The reason it’s called “The Koto Protocol” is entertaining, though, so I’ll spend some time on it.

RollBots is heavily
