Out of Print
Older titles can feel "dated" to readers...when I started writing my novels there were no cell phones, no modern technology, and updating these titles to bring them into the 21st century means major re-writing and re-publishing. Most publishers just don't want to do that. They're publishing new works and new writers.
Bookstore shelves are eager to display new material, not old, so this also causes older books to disappear. And readers like new stories, new books.
But many of these older titles "live" in e-format...you can download them and read all, and for less money than paper books. Yes, the devices (e-readers and computers) may seem costly, but all are becoming less so. So take on e-reader on vacation, download and READ!

The real gift is having a reader tell you, "I loved that book." or "I never liked to read until I read your story." The true measure of fame is knowing you connected with a reader, and tapped into someone's love of books.
A writer writes.

If characters are a novel's life blood, then conflict is the muscle that moves them. So if I lack sufficient problems confronting my people, they stop talking. And I have a bad writing day.
