Diesel the Body Guard: No Bullies Allowed!

Delilah Dillard is a young girl with red hair who is being bullied at school by two brothers, Richard and Jimmy. She has tried everything possible to avoid the boys which includes walking to school each day instead of riding the bus. One day, a new student named Lilly Ann is introduced to the class. She has red hair, braces, and wears glasses. Delilah happily agrees to befriend the new student and offers to take her under her wing for the day. It is during lunch time when Richard and Jimmy made their move, and began to bully both girls. Delilah had grown used to being called names but when Lilly began to cry, Delilah decided it was time to get even with the bullies. “Lilly, don’t you worry about those boys. Just wait until you meet Diesel, my best friend and Body Guard,” said Delilah. Knowing how protective her pet rooster, Diesel was, she set out to give the boys a taste of their own medicine. This would be the only way to end the bullying, and teach the brothers a lesson.

And I Thought I’d be a Nun

“We are less damaged by the traumas of childhood than by the traumatic way we remember childhood.”

Psychologist James Hillman

“‘And I thought I’d Be a Nun’ is a heart-wrenching, true, family drama about the life, trials, and tribulations of author, Georgianne Landy-Kordis. No book comes closer to exposing the depths of a woman’s soul. Forced to deal with extraordinary hardships, death, rejection, abuse, and a struggle to rise above obstacles that would break the spirit of most people, Georgianne shows true strength as she perseveres and overcomes what life has thrown at her. Ms. Landy-Kordis writes in a brazenly honest, fresh style. The chronological events of her life take the reader down a sometimes disturbing yet eye-opening journey that leads to her personal growth and struggle to find self-worth and true love. With the help of friends and a strong conviction that God has a purpose for us all, she has lived a life and written a tale worth reading.”

~Susanne L. Lambdin (Author of the Dead Hearts Novel Series)

The Reason Why

Curious about the profile of a woman on a bench in lower Manhattan, Ed Blake approaches the vaguely familiar woman; that benign interest eventually leads to a consuming relationship that sends his life into a tailspin, damaging his marriage, family and career. The novel deals with the clandestine involvement, the reluctance to end despite attempts, and the attendant guilt, all without being detected and disrupting the lives of his unaware wife and daughter—at first. While pondering alternatives, tragedy makes the decision for him. Haunted by memories, Ed attempts normalcy in his family life but the affair comes to light. Pressed to explain the reason for the affair, Ed’s failure to offer justification and fixable causes leads to strife, incrimination and separation. Ed turns to alcohol as consolation and loses his job. Only through the beginning of his family’s forgiveness does he climb out of the self-created abyss.

The Long-Lost Love Letters of Doc Holliday

The most notorious love letters in American history—supposedly destroyed a century ago—mysteriously reappear, and become the coveted prize in a fierce battle for possession that brings back to life the lawless world evoked in the letters themselves.

Lisa Balamaro is an ambitious arts lawyer with a secret crush on her most intriguing client: former rodeo rider and reformed art forger, Tuck Mercer. In his newfound role as an expert in Old West artifacts, Tuck gains possession of the supposedly destroyed correspondence between Doc Holliday and his cousin and childhood sweetheart, Mattie—who would become Sister Mary Melanie of the Sisters of Mercy.

Given the unlikelihood the letters can ever be fully authenticated, Tuck retains Lisa on behalf of the letters’ owner, Rayella Vargas, to sell them on the black market. But the buyer Tuck finds, a duplicitous judge from the Tombstone area, has other, far more menacing ideas.

As Lisa works feverishly to make things right, Rayella secretly enlists her ex-marine boyfriend in a daring scheme of her own.

When the judge learns he’s been blindsided, he rallies a cadre of armed men for a deadly standoff reminiscent of the moment in history that made Doc famous: The Gunfight at the OK Corral.

The Gatsby Affair

The romance between F. Scott Fitzgerald and Zelda Sayre has been celebrated as one of the greatest of the 20th century. From the beginning, their relationship was a tumultuous one, in which the couple’s excesses were as widely known as their passion for each other. Despite their love, both Scott and Zelda engaged in flirtations that threatened to tear the couple apart. But none had a more profound impact on the two—and on Scott’s writing—as the liaison between Zelda and a French aviator, Edouard Jozan. Though other biographies have written of Jozan as one of Scott’s romantic rivals, accounts of the pilot’s effect on the couple have been superficial at best.

In The Gatsby Affair: Scott, Zelda, and the Betrayal That Shaped an American Classic, Kendall Taylor examines the dalliance between the southern belle and the French pilot from a fresh perspective. Drawing on conversations and correspondence with Jozan’s daughter, as well as materials from the Jozan family archives, Taylor sheds new light on this romantic triangle. More than just a casual fling, Zelda’s tryst with Edouard affected Scott as much as it did his wife—and ultimately influenced the author’s most famous creation, Jay Gatsby. Were it not for Zelda’s affair with the pilot, Scott’s novel might be less about betrayal and more about lost illusions.

Exploring the private motives of these public figures, Taylor offers new explanations for their behavior. In addition to the love triangle that included Jozan, Taylor also delves into an earlier event in Zelda’s life—a sexual assault she suffered as a teenager—one that affected her future relationships. Both a literary study and a probing look at an iconic couple’s psychological makeup, The Gatsby Affair offers readers a bold interpretation of how one of America’s greatest novels was influenced.
