Coronavirus disease (COVID-19): Everything Will Be Okay
If you have friends and family that are panicked, please reassure them that things will be okay. Ive seen poorer countries survive it all, I should know, I lived in one. I lived through two cholera epidemics in my childhood. Many people died, as a direct result of the sickness, and secondarily, inaccessibility to healthcare.
Fear is a powerful thing, especially for many who live in communities and places that have never been directly impacted by natures powerdrought, earthquakes, disease,...

Coronavirus disease (COVID-19): A Message to the Hoaders
I know some people cant even find regular cold and flu medicine to treat non-coronavirus related illnesses and or disinfectants to keep their loved ones well because other folks have decided to empty out store shelves and stockpile on resources others need. Even clinics, hospitals, senior care facilities and other healthcare providers cant get the resources they need because others have decided to hoard.
Sadly, the people who are panicking and buying out and stockpiling soaps, disinfectants,...

My 3 Sentence Book Review: The Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy
It’s always hard to objectively review a childhood favorite. But this was a great read, especially when you read it as an adult and start picking up on the social commentary. Its as funny as it is thought-provoking, and as timely today as it was back when it was first published.

Why Do Bats Fly at Night?
“Why do bats fly at night?” my grandfather asked.
“I don’t know,” I replied.
“A long time ago, the birds and mammals were at war with each other,” he said. “This war went on for thousands of years. When it looked like the birds were winning, the bat would fly and call itself a bird. And when it looked like the mammals were winning, it would walk on the ground, say, ‘Look at my fur and hair, I’m one of you.’ But one day, the birds and mammals decided to have a truce and work towards peace. I...

Laws of Attraction: A Lesson in Courtship
Her beauty was as refreshing as the sweet orchid scented fragrance of a crisp summer morning as droplets of crystal clear dew rested on the blades of luscious green grass. Her smile was like a snapshot in time, so simple, yet heaven sent. She was never without a suitor. Men were quick to confess their love and devotion to her happiness. Politely she would decline because she had heard and seen it all before, men who pretend to be knights in shining armor when all they really have on is tin fo...

My 3 Sentence Book Review: Star Trek: Discovery: The Enterprise War
I’ve read every Discovery tie-in book released and I really enjoyed this one, partly due to the fact that I’ve been hoping for a Pike.spin-off. Although CBS may not be planning on producing one, The Enterprise War was the closet fans can get to one for now. It was a good story, not great, but definitely good and in the vein of traditional Star Trek for those who feel Discovery is too dark.

Who Are You Raising Your Children to Be?
My grandmother is 93. Sharp tongued, sharp minded, and stubborn. My grandfather passed away at 96. It puts a lot of things into perspective: life, heritage, and the legacies we inherit or leave behind.
I remember the last conversation I had with my grandfather. As we reminisced about my youth and infantile shenanigans, he brought up his daughter, my mother. She died of cancer at the age of 50, something that pained my grandfather.
He said, “A child is supposed to bury their parent, not the ot...
