A touch of the morbid
So I like to travel. It's one of the few things I like to overindulge in. I haven't had the opportunity to wander outside the country, though Italy is on the bucket list, but I have been fortunate to visit many great places throughout our own country. I'll openly admit, I have a bizarre fascination with old cemeteries. I love the peace that seems to exist, especially when they're off the beaten path. Their quiet dignity as the final, and somewhat permanent, resting place for the dead. Anytime I'm walking through a bustling city and come across one, I have to step inside. It amazes me how the modern noise seems to disappear. I've been to battle ground cemeteries, veterans cemeteries, historical cemeteries, and more contemporary cemeteries. Though I find really nothing so majestic as old New Orleans. The mausoleums withstand not only a constantly changing city that builds up around them but also hurricanes. It's one of the few places it seems everyone respects and cherishes and prides as part of their heritage. If you've never been and ever have a chance to go, take tour. And if you run across one in your neighborhood, stroll through it. You might be surprised at what you feel or learn. A new commitment
So I will openly admit to not being a blogger. But after much thinking and trying to decide what to do with this forum, I remembered that reading is about inspiration and escapism. So, I'm committing myself to updating a few times a week with the those things that gave me the respite I needed. Whether it's an afternoon in the sun watching a kite lazily float against a blue sky or a television program that makes me think or a book that I can get lost in, I'll update it here for any and all who are interested. Feel free to share anything that inspires you because after all, it was a book that inspired me to take a chance and write in the first place.

5 Stars Incredible Story!! January 16, 2014
By Lora M
Format:Kindle Edition|Amazon Verified Purchase
Smoldering Embers is one of the best fiction books I have read in ages. This book really resonated with me as a woman, and the things that can happen to us at one time or another. I am a believer in the paranormal as well, so the added twist of the strange things that occurred, had me pulled into this book from the first chapter. There is a lot of suspense and unexpected plot twists, the story presents a nice flow and is easy to read. I look forward to reading more amazing books written by P.M. Briede. A++

Great Review for Smoldering Embers
So happy to see a great review for Smoldering Embers post on Amazon yesterday! For those of you reading, I hope you enjoy the book just as much!
5 Stars Rekindling January 14, 2014
By Jack Driscoll
Format:Kindle Edition|Amazon Verified Purchase
This book deals with restarting your life after the one closet to you is taken. It delves into the realm of rekindling new relationships out of the ashes of grief and finding more than you thought possible, even finding love again.
Then, just when you think you have your bearings again life starts to unravel in new and terrifying ways. Your mind betrays you. Your body betrays you. It looks like your friends aren't far behind...
This suspenseful thriller is very well written. Charlotte's character really pulls you into the story and its difficult to separate yourself from her grief, pain, suspicion and fear. This book is gripping from beginning to end.

Where I've Been...
So I've been silent for a while. Here's the reason why. The Charlotte Grace series was picked up by California Time Publishing, which is a marketing group for independent authors to help get their books in front of the right audience. I've been working with them for the last couple of months to improve the story, and as you can see, change the cover image. I am very grateful for their help and everyone's initial support for this story. Currently the book is available at Amazon and Barnes & Noble.

Writing, writing, writing
Great week for writing! Got the first review of Smoldering Embers on Goodreads and Amazon! Thank you again Lisa. Finished the edits for the second book in the Charlotte Grace Series, Wild Fire and sent that to my beta readers, can't wait for their feedback. Finished book one in the Empathy Delacroix series, Death of a Chorus Girl. Will be setting that to the side to read through one more time next month. If you're interested in beta reading please reach out to me. And got through the first chapter of Empathy's sequel. All in all not much to complain about!

Hunter S Jones Interview
I recently had the opportunity to connect with author Hunger S Jones and ask her a couple of questions. Her new book, September Ends is coming out October 1, 2013.
What made you decide to write?
There was never a decision. It has always been there. Some people sing, some dance, some act. I play with words. You can take only 26 letters in the English language and arrange them into a novel. It fascinates me. I hid in it, in them.
Poetry appears to play an important role in your upcoming book. What poets inspired you to include this aspect in your writing?
The poet who is my collaborator was the biggest influence on September Ends. However, I'm from Tennessee where everybody tells their stories in a song. Poetry is the music of words, without the guitar. With all that being said, my biggest inspiration, poetically has always been Elizabeth Barrett Browning. What a love story she wrote, then she actually lived it. What a truly exquisite story.
With today's instant communication society of email, Twitter, and Facebook, why have your prose for September Ends written in letters, diary entries, and poems?
The format for September Ends is different. You will have to read it. It encapsulates our digi-drama.
What other art forms are you active in?
Nothing. I can't sing, can't act, act play guitar and I can't draw. Words. My entire life has been words. I've got a lot to say.
What are you currently reading now?
My edits and promos for September Ends are all consuming at this pre-publication point. Although, I am looking forward to reading Steven W. Kohlhagen's Civil War era historical mystery "Where They Bury You". It appears to be a fascinating read and something different.
If your intrigued, below you'll find the blurb for the book and make sure to look for it Amazon.
Overweight and dull. That’s how I felt.
My grandfather and brother died. I hid inside a black cave deep in my soul, numbed for a decade on meds, booze, and bad love, married to my glorious career.
My name is Liz Snow, from Atlanta, Georgia, and this is my story.
One hot summer I fell hopelessly in love with successful attorney, Peter William Hendrix III, from Chattanooga, Tennessee. We bonded because of Shelley and Keats. Pete introduced me to the works of modern English poet, Jack O. Savage, It was like The Poet was drawing us together through his blogs and poems, like he had a message for my life and my love with Pete Hendrix.
I lived it in my heart and soul.
It all went tragically wrong once I learned Pete’s secret.
As September ends I jet to London, England. Pete Hendrix betrayed me big time. There was no time for my revenge. With an unstable mind, and a broken heart – my life was a kaleidoscope of stabbing shards of pain.
London ignored me. Maybe I didn’t exist. I was lost and lonely in a flat in Kensington.
I hear that Jack O. Savage will make a rare public appearance. I wrangle an invitation to the art gallery where he is reading. I was curious. In some ways, he was the cause of my trouble.
It turned out my fallen rock-star-with-words was even more damaged than I.
Jack O.Savage, The Poet became my friend.
Then, an unexpected kiss at a county fair on a perfect English summer’s day changed everything forever. Jack the man became my lover.
Magic.
My elusive dream of a lifelong love began.
If Pete was what I’d always wanted, Jack was what I always needed.
The mystery unraveled as the kaleidoscope of my broken life evolved and I found myself living a rainbow of perfect bliss.
Sometimes when you believe it’s the end, it’s only the beginning.
September Ends is a contemporary romance with erotic and supernatural elements. It reveals the intricate web of passion and desire which ensnares Liz Snow, Pete Hendrix and Jack O. Savage. The story is told through Liz Snow’s diary, Jack O. Savage’s poetry, and from letters sent across the Atlantic. Traveling throughout the lushness of a summertime in Tennessee and Georgia, September Ends journeys into the elegance of London’s West End and is finally settled in the countryside of Cornwall, England, a decade later.
September Ends is the story of sin, redemption and salvation through love, because love happens when we least expect it.
