A 1940's Egg Box, Sevenoaks, Kent
The thought of sending eggs in today's post is quite frankly laughable, even with fragile tape, special containers and pleas for caution, things don't always arrive in the condition that one would like but during World War II eggs became a rare and special cargo.
Rationing restricted adults to one fresh egg per week and families were forced to rely on dried egg powder sent over...

When The SockKids Were Born
That November night was an evening like so many others, cold and dreary. It would end up being extraordinary.
My two daughters, separated by four years and divided on so many subjects, were in perfect disharmony again over another silly issue. One daughter wanted the window down for some fresh air while the other demanded more heat.

Written by Stan and Jan Berenstain
This e book version is based on the 1999 book version of the same title. The authors have published more than 250 books in this series with the beloved Berenstain bears. I really enjoyed this book. As a bonus it includes an excerpt from The Berenstain Bears and the Phenom in the Family.

A void that can only be filled by a company with a vision to see this need, and the resources to act on it.

"If I had two heads, I would gladly give him one," Christina of Denmark is supposed to have quipped, when Henry VIII was proposed as a future bridegroom. This particular young woman had no desire to end up as one of the English king’s discarded wives – especially not as so many of them ended up dead.
Whatever Christina’s opinion in the matter, Hans Holbein was dispatched to do her portrait so that Henry could peruse her likeness.
