Finishing a re-read…
This will be very surprising, but I’m on-schedule with my July release for Charcoal Tears.
I know, shocker!
I’ve been going over my editor’s notes and doing a final re-read of the book. It was all somehow fairly fresh to me, because I took a bit of a break from his series in recent months to focus on other stuff. I usually do this before I release a book so that I can read it again with fresh eyes.
Predictably enough, one of defining re-read moments is when I finish the book.
This time I laughed and said “That’s so fucked up.”
Anyway, stay tuned for the July release. You’ll be seeing the first book of this new series VERY soon!

New Series: The Seraph Black Series
Hello Everyone!
I’ve started a completely new series called the Seraph Black series, and it’s going to be my first foray into the NA genre.
This is good for me, because I love swearing.
I won’t say too much for now, except that the first book is with the editor and the second book is almost finished. Also, it has a love-pentagon (or a reverse-harem… whatever you want to call it), an incredibly weird stalker dude, some pretty cool urban fantasy elements and a little bit of biting. Sorry ladies, no vampires.
I won’t say when I think I will release it, because that never goes well for me, but I’m all for handing out my editor’s email address so that you can annoy him until it’s done.
Here’s the cover for the first book!

Playlists
Someone asked me the other day what kind of music I listened to while I was writing. Since I’m the sort of person who discovers a new song and replays it over and over and over until there is something to replace it with… I end up with about 20 songs that I have absolutely flogged, per book.
Talking to my friend gave me the idea that I should post my playlists online to give you all a taste of what bi-polar feels like, through song.
These playlists are omitting only one thing: when I run out of new music, I put Pitbull on repeat. I have no idea why it works for me, but it does. I imagine it’s like background noise, repetitive enough to be unobtrusive, and unoriginal enough to sound like a 30 min remix, when actually you’re playing fifteen separate songs.
So, if you’re interested, you can find the playlists HERE.

Second Edition of Hereditary
I haven’t actually announced this yet, but Hereditary has been released as a second edition. This was, in part, because people were starting to take me seriously, and it made me wonder if perhaps I should do the same. So, I got an editor, added a bit of bonus content, and fixed all my old mistakes.
I realised at some stage that The Soulstoy Inheritance was going to come out so late that some people might need to re-read Hereditary, so I wanted to make it worthwhile.
I’ll admit, I was tempted to throw in another love interest (just kidding), but nothing essential to the plot has been changed.
Publishing Hereditary opened me up to a whole world of criticism that I hadn’t even realised existed. I had never been big on allowing people to read my writing, so this was an experience. I’ve found that I always spell ‘barely’ as ‘barley’, ‘choked’ as ‘chocked’ and I can’t seem to decide on the names of my characters. In my first draft, Cale had been spelt ‘Cole’ several times. Similarly, after I finished The Soulstoy Inheritance, I found that 50% of the time I called one of the characters Asher, and the other 50% of the time, he was Ashen. By the time the book had gone through it’s final edit, I honestly didn’t know which was the proper name.
I had to flip a coin.

About a blog…
I’ve been told that a blog requires me to actually write in it more often than once or twice a year. Since I’m the apparent anomaly in this world of modern fiction, being that I don’t read or write blogs, I’ve decided to do a little re-haul.
There are two reasons so far that I haven’t been writing a blog. The first is that I’m a very private person, and the second is that I have absolutely no filter whatsoever. Those two things combined, I’m sure, will make for a very painful or amusing blog. Painful for me, amusing for everyone else. Or something like that.
Nonetheless, here I am, writing stuff. Unfortunately, this means that I need to compromise by pretending that my inactive Twitter account doesn’t exist, and I also need to admit that I have no idea what my google plus account does.
Another re-haul I’m doing is with Jane Washington herself. Yes, she’s an alias. You could probably tell from the copious amounts of private information you can find on her all over the web. While I’ll still use the name–it’s a cool name–I won’t actually be hiding behind it so much this year. So, I’ll put up a bio to tell you all a little about myself, and finally a real picture.
You may have noticed that the website has change a bit too, huh? That’s because I went into hibernation for too long and Spanish hackers took over, trying to sell underwear and sunglasses and lesbian sex. I only bothered to translate one of their thousands of spam comments, and it turned out to be:
“In the summer of 2011, he ridiculed Anthony Weiner for being caught sending pictures of his private parts to a young woman.”
Riveting stuff.
I should have kept it, and the Spanish hacking program could have run my blog for me.

Release Date Updated
Hello again,
Bad news! We’ve past the end of another month, and still The Soulstoy Inheritance does not grace the online marketplace.
I think it’s time for an explanation, no?
The truth is, I released Hereditary on a whim. It took me a few weeks to write, which dragged into a month with the editing and figuring-out-Amazon process. I didn’t expect so many people to buy the book, and didn’t expect such a large portion of those people to enjoy it. My biggest regret since releasing Hereditary has been that I didn’t spend more time on it. I feel that I should have at least sent it to an editor.
So, since all of you wonderful people have been emailing me asking about the release date, I have decided that I simply cannot release the second book in the same way as I released the first. You deserve something well polished, well edited and well loved.
Please continue to be patient, and I do my best to make the wait worth it.

The Soulstoy Inheritance – Release Date
Hello All!
I know I promised a December release date for the Soulstoy Inheritance, but it’s looking like it’s going to be a bit later… judging by the fact that it’s already January.
Feel free to email your abuse to me, the more degrading and soul-destroying, the better!
Stay tuned, it won’t be long now.
